BTW for anyone wondering since so much is still being made of this the official NFL rules (which we all know how selective the NFL is regarding following their own rules)

Quote:
The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the NFL League Rulebook. It states: 'The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. 'During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition... ...It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.

Just their speculation that Jets will have the worst record at end of season, maybe not by current record? Must be.

I agree - when I was posting this I saw that and I figured it was a mistake on their part.

The keyword here is "may result in discipline..." Meaning it's up to the league whether to discipline. Obviously they won't. Some team owners may discipline their players, though.

Yesterday's protests seem to be more a rebuke against the president's attitude, and less about patriotism. Several players characterized it as such. Tom Brady endorsed "Make America Great Again" but still said Trump's comments were over the line.

I think people on both sides all want to improve this country in manners they think are best, and in that sense, they are all patriotic. It is just sad that we have to denigrate each other in the name of patriotism just because we disagree with one another.

This has been a history of athletes making gestures of protestation in front of the anthem, notably the Black Panther salute at the 1968 Olympics, which had to do with civil rights. Colin Kaepernick started this kneeling last year and his protest had to do with certain civil rights issues.

I await with bated breath next year's Winter Olympics when the national anthem is played during medal ceremonies. It's one thing to protest in local sports games, another to do it when the whole world is watching.

Give it up man. The small handed orange menace has attacked the entire NFL to the point the point where even conservatives like Roger Goodell think he's a joke. The entire league is united. They're not enforcing that antiquated rule to please the dear leader.
