If you are a defensive player and their is a loose ball 10 yards in front of the endzone with the rare oppurtunity to score a touchdown you go for it. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Couldn't agree more, those guys love getting their hands on fumbles. It's like a big lineman scoring as well, they're always gonna go for it cuz they so rarely get their mitts on a ball.

I get all of that, I do, but I could also see the argument that it's running up the score unnecessarily.

My take is that if they're gonna do all of that BS trickery at the end then they deserve to be scored on.

Then the other team should have stopped them. That play NEVER works, I don't see why they didn't just try the Hail Mary in the first place.

If I'm a football player, I'm scoring.

Defensive players need to pad their stats too. It's no different than the offense putting up respectable numbers in garbage time.

You know what this is reminding me of? Something I've heard on sports talk radio all the time.

Running back puts up great numbers behind a top offensive line, the callers refuse to give him any credit. The line gets dismantled and the running back struggles behind a terrible line, now he gets all the blame.

yes, but what happens at the end of the season if it comes down to a tiebreaker? Points scored is part of that. Imagine if K.C. lost out on a playoff spot because they were 6 points short in the tiebreaker. That garbage touchdown can make a difference. I'm all for the "If you don't want us to run up the score, then stop us" line of thinking.

Haha, I hear ya...we could argue this type of stuff all the live long day ad nauseum. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on this ongoing debate. All in good fun though, I enjoy talking football with you guys in here.

You see all the whiny brats on social media and the (click bait-chasing) hack internet reporters having an aneurysm over the Titans signing Brandon Weeden instead of Colin Kaepernick? Now while I believe that Weeden is an unsuccessful retread who shouldn't even be in the league anymore (see Charlie Whitehurst and Scott Tolzien for the definition of retread who won't bring any value to the team), what these crybabies are moaning about is exactly why Kaep shouldn't be signed.

They acknowledge that Weeden is being brought in as a backup to Matt Cassel with Mariota hurt, and will get cut the second Mariota is healthy again. But then they say how much better Kaep would be LEADING the Titans offense. Does no one else see this? That's why teams shouldn't sign Kaep to be a backup.

At this point, I find the mass hysteria of any QB not named Kaep getting signed amusing, just to see these losers whine and squirm.

The why didnt kc kick the pat instead of taking knee - that cost them 1 pt.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone here evidently is missing the real reason he technically shouldve just fallen on the ball.

He couldve been hit & fumbled the ball - then redskin guy picks up ball & runs for TD to win the game.
Slim chance but still a chance - so youre saying theres a chance.

Also if he fumbled & redskin guy picked it up & ran there couldve been a penalty on chiefs during the run
& since game cant end on def penalty redskins would get 1 untimed down to try & win the game.

Danny Trevathan suspension reduced to one game on appeal.

I'm fine with it seeing as he's a first time offender.

Hits like that should see them suspended until the player they hurt is healthy enough to play.

If Kaep gives a team a better chance of winning, they should sign him. I get that teams want to avoid alienating portions of the fanbase or inviting unwanted distractions via media attention over Kaep being Kaep, but unless we're talking about a team for which losing might actually be beneficial (Browns, Jets, etc.), I don't really see a harm to bringing in Kaep. Especially a team like the Titans, who could conceivably win a very meh AFC South and make the playoffs. He's a damn sight better than Weeden and at least comparable to Cassel.

Because Mariota might play Sunday. He is clearly not dealing with a long term injury. Kaepernick is not worth the headache to sign him and has proven over the last couple of years he is more interested in his cause than winning football games. He has been on a steady decline for the last few years. Being better than Brandon Weeden doesn't say much but causing a ripple isn't worth it. It is the same reason Tebow didn't make it in the league.
