I wasn't sure either but according to the link the Giants should be able to dump Apple and not have to pay the guaranteed money remaining on his contract:

The suspension for conduct detrimental to the team will wipe out his otherwise guaranteed compensation for 2018 and 2019. Which means that the Giants can cut Apple and owe him nothing.

He’s currently due to make $1.827 million next year and $2.516 million in 2019, all of which is fully guaranteed. The invalidation of the guarantees will allow the Giants to dump him with no further financial obligation.

Apple knew there was a high likelihood that the Giants were going to release him in the offseason, so all he had to do was behave for the final week of the season and he'd get that $4.3 million. Now he'll likely end up on a minimum salary deal somewhere with nothing guaranteed.

Part of me thinks the radio interview calling Eli Apple a "cancer" was done to bait him into blowing up so they could suspend him and owe him nothing. But I'm all about the conspiracy theories lol

So Dez Bryant might be on the way out in Dallas and TD machine Davante Adams is a free agent. Would love to see that happen but I bet Adams will be out of our range even if we pursue him.

Dave Gettleman hired as new GM for Giants

Giants hired ex-Panthers GM Dave Gettleman as general manager.

With the Giants from 1998-2012, Gettleman is returning home after his stunning firing from the Panthers five months ago. Gettleman developed a reputation as an excellent talent evaluator in New York before quickly turning a top-heavy Panthers roster into a Super Bowl contender. His firing in Carolina was seemingly over his reluctance to extend aging players. He will have many decisions to make in that department in New York, first and foremost the Giants future of Eli Manning. Gettleman, of course, also needs to find a new head coach, something he was not tasked with in Carolina.
