Hasn’t happened in awhile, but it’s the second most position drafted at #1. He’s worth it.

Well said.
I can’t fault Oakland for wanting Gruden. They have a young, good, QB and will be the first NFL team in Las Vegas after next season. You need a big hire, and Gruden fits that bill. Should be interesting to see what he does there. Going to miss him in the booth.

No offense but nobody, especially the Browns is drafting a RB at #1. Decent running backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL and with the NFL more a passing game than ever before RB's just aren't valued that highly and their shelf life is ridiculously short. There are a few paths to building a Super Bowl winning team in the NFL but virtually every one entails a franchise QB without the need for an elite RB. And don't try to tell me you think DeShone Kizer or Cody Kessler is their QB of the future with a straight face. I also don't buy the Browns landing any of the quality QB's in this free agent class. Cousins isn't going to sign with an 0-16 team and they'd be fools to think McCarron deserves a huge contract. Though this is the Browns... maybe I've overstating their intelligence.

The Browns will likely take Rosen #1 and hope Barkley is there at #4, though he probably goes #3 to Indy. That is unless someone offers them a huge deal for one of those picks. Personally unless the Jags think they can land Cousins I hope they make a huge deal to move up and take Rosen.

Problem is not every team has people in charge who were colorblind like Al Davis. Personally I think the Rooney Rule should be tweaked a little to avoid situations where the team 100% knows who they're hiring as head coach. As long as a minority candidate is interviewed for a job at a certain level (say asst. coach) or higher at least once every year or two it should be ok. That way the team is still providing opportunities intended by the Rooney Rule while doing away with most of the fake interviews.

If I were the Browns I'd allow the fact that there's another Goff/Wentz scenario to trade back and pick up a huge haul of picks. They need help everywhere on that team, dropping back to 20 or so with each of those top 5 picks would help a lot.

Why do you ask questions to which you already know the answer?

That's true but typically there's a franchise QB outside of the top 10 or so picks. In 2017 it was Watson at #12, in 2016 it was Prescott in round 4, in 2014 is was Carr and maybe Garoppolo in round 2, in 2012 is was Wilson in round 3 and Cousins in round 4.

If I'm the Browns looking at trading down I look at Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield later on in the first round. I kind of like Mason Rudolph as well, who may be there around rounds 2 or 3.

There's talent all over the draft, I won't argue that. I just doubt the Browns' ability to actually identify said talent. But hey, they've got Dorsey now so maybe he can work some magic.

Well they need a RB and Barkley is that special. Win the old fashion way - solid D, solid run. Jacksonville improved this year thanks to Fournette, minimizing Bortles passing game. How many times are they going to draft a QB, that they won't take the time to develop, toss him into the wolves, and watch him fall apart once again? Yeah it's a "passing" league but there are still a need for great running. No run game with crappy passing is going to get you no where. McCoy, Bell, Johnson, Elliott, Fournette - to name just a handful. Browns are missing this piece.

People can talk about Kizer but now you have to stay the course with him. Yeah, he had a lot of turnovers in his rookie year (so did Peyton) - stick with him, I think he has great potential, and give him some weapons. He should have NEVER played this season, but No Clue Hue screwed that up royally.

They may have gone winless, but they were close in some of those games. They do have some talent scattered around the field. They have, as of right now, 5 picks within the first two rounds. I don't see a need for them to trade when five talented players can make a real difference.

Pat Shurmur is a former Browns coach. Went 9-23 in two seasons - with Colt McCoy and Brandon Weeden as his QB's. Now he's the offensive mastermind in Minnesota that is #2 in NFC with a backup backup QB and backup RB.

Meanwhile we stay with 1-31 No Clue Hue. Shurmur, on the other hand, is on several teams' radar.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team will "for sure" consider drafting a quarterback.

"When you have a veteran quarterback at this stage, it's the time you're looking for a young backup," Harbaugh added. The coach blamed Joe Flacco's recent struggles on his health, and these comments certainly do not suggest the team is looking to replace him in the near future. Still, it is notable Baltimore is at the very least thinking about the future. Flacco averaged just 5.7 yards per attempt with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season.

A team should draft a QB every 2-3 years.

Doesn't matter if you're a franchise QB if the wrong franchise drafts you. Imagine how Goff or Wentz could've been ruined in Cleveland. David Carr's fate was sealed the moment the Texans drafted him.

Or the wrong coaching staff. Goff was almost ruined a year ago playing for the same franchise he's currently ballin out for.
