I guess that's the big question mark here. Janikowski spent the entire season on Injury Reserve with back issues, and those don't go away easily. He still has a few more months to recover, so if he retires that would probably mean that the back issues were severe.

The Raiders definitely took a page out of The Godfather here ("It's not personal, it's strictly business"), since Tavecchio cost them merely $465,000 last season and Janikowski cost them $3.3 millions, even with a discount. With the NFL's hard salary cap, that definitely was the reason they let him go, 2 or 3 millions here and there make a huge difference.

Chargers went through five kickers (counting the punter who went 1-3 on extra points) last year.

Well looks like the cap tight Eagles will be landing Ndamukong Suh...for free!

Was never a fan of his dirty play, but man that defensive line would be lights out!

“When the team practiced against Miami, Dolphins players took note of how fast Eagles players moved from drill to drill. Lee recalls Ndamukong Suh being so impressed with the team that he approached defensive line coach Chris Wilson with an offer: “Suh told our defensive line coach, ‘The way y’all practice is unbelievable. I don’t care about money at this point—I think I want to play with y’all next year for free,’” Lee says. “Our coach was like, ‘Uhh, can we get that in writing?’” (Suh, through a Dolphins spokesman, denies the incident.)”

Gonna get more flags next year, that's for sure. But I'm not seeing anything that says it's definitely happening?

Haha! I don’t think that’s ever gonna happen. Suh was probably just quoted out of context.

Suh's a dominant player, but I surely don't miss the baggage.

Suh always comes across so down to Earth and likeable in interviews, but when he steps onto the field, man! What a change!

A.J. McCarron won his grievance against the Bengals and will be an unrestricted free agent. The Bengals argued he should be a restricted free agent because his rookie year he spent all but 3 games on the non-football injury list and you need to be off the list for at least 6 games to accrue a season. McCarron argued he was healthy enough to come off the list sooner and should get an accrued season. The arbitrator agreed with McCarron.

I don't get the McCarron hype, but at least some team will be giving him a shot instead of yet another QB retread everyone already knows can't win at this level.

I think McCarron will get a contract comparable to the 3-year, $45 million deal Mike Glennon got with the Bears, which is really going to end up a 1-year, $18.5 million deal. I can't see a team giving more than a year of guaranteed money to McCarron since he really hasn't played since 2015 and has such a small body of work.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette expects the Packers to extend Aaron Rodgers after the draft.

The Packers have Rodgers signed through 2019 but want to extend him this offseason. Rodgers will likely wait to see what Kirk Cousins gets in free agency before signing, so it may be closer to training camp until anything gets done. Rodgers' next deal will make him the highest paid player in the league with an annual salary in the range of $30 million. There have been rumblings Green Bay could give Rodgers a fully guaranteed short-term extension.

This is funny to me that they’re even mentioned in the same sentence.

It should go like this:

1. Kirk Cousins gets his contract.
2. Within seconds, Rodgers contract is announced and it’s exactly twice as much as Cousins contract.
3. Rodgers has a press conference and only says three words: YOU LIKE THAT?!
