Yes they are, they are estimated to have about $17 million in cap space once free agency begins. Probably why guys like Dez might get cut.

Rams non-exclusive franchise tag Lamarcus Joyner, so Sammy Watkins heads to free agency.

Jags won't franchise Allen Robinson.

Bills agree to terms with RB Chris Ivory on a two-year deal.

Things are starting to heat up in the NFL.

I don't know why the Rams were even considering franchising Watkins. He only had 39 receptions and 593 receiving yards last year. Yes, his 8 touchdowns were nice, but not nice enough to justify a nearly $16 million salary. He also disappeared way too often, with only 4 games exceeding 50 receiving yards (and 1 of those games was a 1 reception game) and 7 games with 30 or fewer yards. The Rams obviously have a huge need at receiver, but Watkins should be more in the $10-$12 million per year range.

Once Goff and Kupp found their rhythm the other receivers became expendable. Watkins will land on his feet elsewhere, he's still solid.

I for one want nothing to do with Cousins. He's not remotely worth backing up the Brinks truck for. I'd rather draft Mayfield for the future, sign a reasonably priced veteran FA QB for now and use our sizable cap space to address the many holes in the roster.
