I like it. I always liked Hyde (former Buckeye!!), but I hope the Browns aren't just settling on him. He's not long-term obviously.

Chase Daniel agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with the Bears with $7 million guaranteed. Daniel can void the deal after one year. If Daniel plays both years of the deal it will push his career earnings to almost $35 million despite the fact that Daniel has only started twice in his career, both of which were meaningless week 17 games.

I liked Hyde but last year was the first year he was able to stay healthy for a full season. Lynch tried to work out a contract over the course of last season but neither side could agree to terms. Shanahan preferred a back who would be more of a receiving threat out of the backfield and McKinnon fits that mold. On the surface McKinnon's contract sounds large but as these contracts go for RB's, the Niners can probably walk away from it with little to no penalty after a year or two if things aren't working out.

Niners did sign C/G Weston Richburg from the Giants. Always good to bolster the O line.

Wow that's a bit surprising. I see the number ESPN reported he was due over the next two seasons and it wasn't that big considering his overall value. I wouldn't mind the Niners making a run at him if they could offer him similar numbers to what he was due in AZ.

LT Joe Thomas retires.

Can't say I blame the guy, though. He's literally been the one single good thing about Browns football the last 10 years.

A bust in Canton awaits him five years from now.

If the Cardinals had kept him he would have been due a $5 million roster bonus and another $13.8 million on his contract for 2018 and 2019 would have become guaranteed. Since signing his extension Mathieu has shown a decline in performance and wasn't worth being the 2nd-highest paid safety in the NFL. The Cardinals wanted to keep him under a renegotiated deal but they couldn't come to an agreement.

Sad. I remember watching the draft when Cleveland selected him. He was back in Wisconsin on a boat fishing
