Amazing how he managed to rehab his image after trying to destroy a franchise. That scumbag tried to declare the Superdome unusable and relocate the Saints to San Antonio in the midst of the biggest natural disaster in Louisiana history. Then he played it off like he was New Orleans's favorite son after they won a Super Bowl and he has a 13.5 foot statue of him with most forgetting what he did.

![]() ![]() Minnesota is about as primed as a team can be. Cousins with the return of a healthy Dalvin Cook along with that defense should be tough to beat. I’m looking forward to seeing this team play, should make for some exciting football. I just need to prepare myself to finally hear “reigning Super Bowl Champions” mentioned during Eagles games....ABOUT the Eagles. ![]() |

That one made more sense. SF was desperate, Jimmy G comes out of nowhere and takes you from contending for 1st overall pick to possibly contending for the division in a season or two. Kirk got lucky as hell finding a team that was literally completely ready to compete except for their QB. Can't even remember the last time that happened.

It wouldn't make much sense though. Maybe if he didn't play the last 5 games, then the Niners tag him so they can see what he is capable of next season before they commit. After closing out the season the way he did, no reason to now. I seriously doubt Jimmy is going to regress going forward. Quite the opposite, I think the more he gets comfortable with Shanahan's offense, he is going to get better. Signing him now was the right thing to do and I am excited for next season. We can also thank Baalke and his shitty drafting and handling of free agents (more so the lack of) for the cap room to do so.

49ers were 8-2 and a year removed from losing the NFC championship when Kap took over; they were already a great team. Garoppolo, not so much.
Just look at the offensive stats before and after Jimmy took over, night and day. Doesn't really matter, the deal is done. Like I said, seriously doubt he regresses. I'm more worried about him getting injured |

If I’m a hiring manager I couldn’t possibly care less what ethnicity, sex or religious background you are...I just want the most qualified person.
Now with that said, if candidate A and candidate B are both equally qualified but one has a known history of bringing politics to work...apologies but I’m going with the other person. Unless you’re a politician, politics should remain out of the work place. I feel it’s unfair to push your agenda, whatever it may be, on fellow coworkers. #massiveelephantinntheroom |

Gotta agree with Dragon. I am naturally a pessimist but locking up Jimmy G now was just the right thing to do. I was weary of doing it too early but sometimes when you know, you just know and that's the feeling that Lynch and Shanahan had. These things are always going to be a gamble but it's the most important position in the league and we haven't had anyone truly great since Steve Young. When you find the one, you lock him down!
IF he does regress, which I don't think he does, but if he does I would only see him regress to mediocre level, not terrible, but even then mediocre can get you by with a solid defense and a running game and there will always be another team out there in a worse off position at the QB spot who would be willing to take him off your hands. And look at where the market is going for QB contracts, even for the playoff unproven, no where but up. If they franchised him this year and assuming he performed well next season, which is likely, the price to lock him down next offseason is just going to go up. This was just the prudent move all things considered. rickah - I assume you are talking about Reid. I read that ESPN article this morning and while I do like him, I respect but don't necessarily agree with his opinion. He himself stated earlier this year that he knew his kneeling could be an issue come FA but I think the reality is finally settling in for him. I do wish the Niners would re-sign him but I absolutely understand why they, or any team for that matter, would not. It's not necessarily just about politics but some teams just don't want the headache associated with it. It's not a matter of pipe down and fall in line, more like "come on man, can you just do that on your own time? we're trying to run a business and this is not the place for it". I find that much more likely then a whole league of owners colluding against him or Kaep. If either of them were absolute superstar players this wouldn't be an issue either because the owners would put up with it to an extent. I know the league gets a wrap as being an old white guys club but I doubt every single one of them hold lock step "conservative" political views. So annoying Last edited by El Rey; 03-16-2018 at 06:49 PM. |
