All signs are the golden boy and Belichick are no longer on the best of terms. The Titanic is starting to get closer to that fateful iceberg. It was an all-time great run while it lasted but the egos are just too big.

With Janikowski it was clearly a monetary decision (way cheaper Kicker on the house), but with King... I don't even know, it's not like he was going to cost much more than in 2017, I think it was about $500,000 more than last year.

Gruden came in and it's his show now. I kinda figured there'd be some unexpected moves.

The top tier talent is still going to go to the NFL, who will have the most money to offer to those drafted.

It's cool that these start-up leagues will offer opportunities for the un-drafted to continue to play and have somewhat of a career but people aren't going to pay specifically to see NFL rejects play. The best these league can hope for (though Vince has said this is not the case with the XFL) is that these leagues will be minor leagues for the NFL or big fish, small pond type situations (popular in small and mid level media markets, where there's not much else going on in the way of pro sports).

I’m fine with them having less talented players than the NFL if it means more football, especially in the NFL offseason.

Jon Gruden reportedly made the call to release former Raiders P Marquette King due to "personality issues".

What those personality issues were is unclear. Oakland undoubtedly needed the relief in cap space, but this news sheds light to another reason the All-Pro was released. Former Raiders HC Jack Del Rio also grew tired of King's antics after he picked up consecutive personal foul penalties in 2016. King will still have several teams interested as he's consistently been among the league's best punters.

The Raiders cut punter Marquette King last week, and that came as a surprise. King is a solid punter who had a career-best 42.7-yard net average last season, and he still had three years left on his contract.

But new Raiders coach Jon Gruden apparently didn’t like King.

Veteran Raiders reporters Bill Williamson and Vic Tafur both reported that Gruden was the one who made the call to send King packing, and that Gruden had personality issues with King.

What exactly those personality issues were is unclear, but King also drew the ire of former Raiders coach Jack Del Rio, who said in 2016 that he was growing tired of King’s antics after King picked up 15-yard personal foul penalties in back-to-back games.

Cutting King knocks $2.9 million off the Raiders’ salary cap, and whoever the Raiders eventually sign to replace him will surely cost less than that. So there’s a financial reason to get rid of King. But the biggest reason may be about a personality clash.
