Personally, I love the way Dorsey's handling things. I actually think Todd Haley has more sway with Dorsey than Hue does in terms of 'what he likes/wants in a QB' and so on. |

It’s the most important position in the game. You have the #1 pick and don’t have a franchise QB. Trust your evaluation process and scouts. You hopefully won’t be in a position to get a QB this high next season. Now is your opportunity. Seize the day. Put your nuts on the table and go get your boy.

Correct. You have the #1 pick and don’t have a franchise QB. Having the #1 pick doesn't just mean it has to be a QB, especially when they have Tyrod who can play right now. Trust your evaluation process and scouts. And none of these guys are definite stars in the making. Injuries aside, we knew guys like Luck, Stafford, and much older QB's that went #1 were pretty much a safe bet. And there's a long list of QB's that went #1 that didn't pan out - or at least have the success that they should have. So yes, by all means, trust the evaluation process and scouts - these guys aren't "it". You hopefully won’t be in a position to get a QB this high next season. Next year is not a concern. Tyrod, veteran Stanton, and an upcoming QB in the 2nd round or whatever will be just fine. Put your nuts on the table and go get your boy. ![]() |

QB's taken in the first round: (aside from the known-greats)
2015 - Jameis Winston, TB ![]() 2011 - Cam Newton, Carolina meh.. 2010 - Sam Bradford, StL ![]() 2009 - Matthew Stafford, Detroit 2007 - Jamarcus Russell, Oakland ![]() 2005 - Alex Smith, SF ![]() 2002 - David Carr, Houston ![]() 2001 - Michael Vick, Atlanta 1999 - Tim Couch, Cleveland ![]() 1990 - Jeff George, Indianapolis ![]() 1987 - Vinny Testaverde, TB 1975 - Steve Bartkowski, Atlanta Some on here were of course pretty good, but maybe not #1 overall good. Super Bowl Winning QB's: Nick Foles - Round 3, Pick 88 Tom Brady - Round 6, Pick 199 Peyton Manning, Round 1, Pick 1 Russell Wilson, Round 3, Pick 75 Joe Flacco, Round 1, Pick 18 Eli Manning, Round 1, Pick 1 Ben Roethlisberger, Round 1, Pick 11 Aaron Rodgers, Round 1, Pick 24 Drew Brees, Round 2, Pick 32 Kurt Warner, undrafted Brad Johnson, Round 9, Pick 227 Trent Dilfer, Round 1, Pick 6 John Elway, Round 1, Pick 1 Brett Favre, Round 2, Pick 33 Troy Aikman, Round 1, Pick 1 Steve Young, Round 1 (1984 Supplemental) Mark Rypien, Round 6, Pick 146 Joe Montana, Round 3, Pick 82 I can go on. But while some on here went #1 overall, the majority did not. Maybe in the first round - but most of the legendary QB's we think of were not even drafted in the first round, outside P. Manning, Elway, and maybe Aikman, (Brady, Montana, Favre, Warner, Brees) |

Pretty embarrassing to be staring at Wentz/Watson back to back years and pass on them. I hope they take Mayfield and he becomes Johnny 2.0. I feel bad for Browns fans, but it’s just too funny to me. |

I’d be fine taking one in the back half of round 1. That 5th year option is a nice perk to have. But yeah, RB’s in general, aren’t valued nearly as high as several other positions.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Barry Sanders played 10 years. Walter Payton played 13 years. Jim Brown played 9 years. Emmitt Smith played 14 years. Eric Dickerson played 11 years. Earl Campbell played 8 years. LaDainian Tonlinson played 11 years. Marshall Faulk played 12 years. Adrian Peterson has played 11 years. This whole "shelf life" narrative, whatever you call it, and positional value claims I find purely bogus. Sure, the style of today's play has changed some over the years, but you still need a threatening RB to be a threat. Or a valid running back committee, which most of the times aren't that great.. Philly and NE aside. |

The more I try to read through some of the smoke screens that are being floated around on Twitter, the more I think we're taking Rosen over Mayfield. I really want Mayfield, but I think it's about fit with the organization as it currently stands and I think the NYJ feel more confident that Jeremy Bates (OC) can be the man to rein Rosen in and show him the ropes.
