What am I missing on why McVay would be the favorite? First off if the Browns wanted McVay they'd have to work out a trade with the Rams, and that wouldn't be cheap. More importantly why would McVay want the job? He's got a team that's going to be a Super Bowl contender for at least a couple years and will be opening a new stadium in a couple years. Why would he want to leave that for the dumpster fire in Cleveland?

Bizarre list, I'm not sure any of those names are realistic.

John DeFilippo and Matt Campbell are probably the two most realistic ones. DeFilippo was the Browns OC three years ago under Mike Pettine, and Campbell is on the 'hot list'. Only question about DeFilippo is whether he wants to work for Hee Haw again; he could probably get a HC gig elsewhere soon enough.

Both have NE Ohio ties as well; DeFilippo was born in Youngstown and Campbell in Massillon.

I've seen some speculation that Mike McCarthy could be a candidate for the Browns. He worked with Cleveland GM John Dorsey in Green Bay and there's a lot of speculation that McCarthy could get the axe in Green Bay if the team fails to make the playoffs or loses in the first round.

McCarthy should’ve been axed long ago, you’ve got a potential GOAT at QB and only one Superbowl appearance (albeit a win) to show for it? Rodgers has spent his career surrounded by disappointment, spinning gold out of dirt.

Lions fielding calls for Golden Tate

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Lions' asking price would be "at least" a fourth-round pick in exchange for Golden Tate.

Ian Rapoport added that "a few teams" have inquired about Tate. In his age-30 season, this is also Tate's contract year, and it sounds like the Lions are leaking this information to drum up trade interest with no intentions of keeping Tate in Detroit long term. If Tate were to be dealt, the Lions could turn to T.J. Jones at slot receiver between Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones.

NFL Network's Michael Giardi reports the Patriots have "discussed" acquiring Demaryius Thomas ahead of Tuesday afternoon's trade deadline.

Fellow NFL Network media man Ian Rapoport adds the Patriots are also "particularly interested" in Golden Tate, in addition to Thomas. Thomas, of course, was drafted by Josh McDaniels in Denver and may need a change of scenery. He's been brutal in Denver this season, pacing the league in dropped passes. And with Josh Gordon suddenly on thinner ice due to tardiness problems, the Patriots may be in the market for outside WR help. Tate is the better player at this stage.
