I'd take Alex Smith into Playoffs.

Bucs waived K Chandler Catanzaro.

Catanzaro entered Week 10 10-of-13 on field goal attempts, but he missed two more in the Bucs' dispiriting loss to the Redskins. We suppose it's a justifiable move, but coach Dirk Koetter is simply re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Bengals are considering bringing back ex-Browns coach Hue Jackson to rejoin coach Marvin Lewis' staff.

That's the word around town, and Lewis didn't shoot it down on Monday. Jackson was on Lewis' staff in Cincinnati from 2004-06 as WRs coach and again from 2012-15 in various roles before landing the Browns' gig. Lewis wants to focus more on the defense in the second half of the season, and Jackson could help OC Bill Lazor out on that side of the ball. We're not sure how much "help" Jackson would ultimately provide, but he and Lewis are longtime friends.

In a stunning move, the Bills have released future HOFer Nathan Peterman.

Nathan is an incredibly kind human being. I wish him nothing but the best going forward. It’s a tough business sometimes.

If I'm Bill Lazor, I'm growing eyes in the back of my head. Now that the Bengals have let him back in, Hue will find a way to stab him in the back and get his old job back.

Funny thing is, the Bengals play the Browns in week 12. They probably think they're getting some 'advanced scouting' from Hue, but the punchline is that the Browns are now using plays that actually work, so I'm not sure how well that so-called reconnaissance mission is going to go.

I have to say that for the first time in forever i did not watch football at all this Sunday... It was glorious! I was able to relax and get so much crap done its not funny. Dont care what games I missed or how I did in fantasy, it was just nice to have a great relaxing Sunday with 0 stress or worries about political crap or game scores. I may make this a more permanent thing.

Apparently the field at Estadio Azteca, the stadium in Mexico City where the Rams and Chiefs are scheduled to play Monday night, is in terrible shape and it's not a certainty the game will be played there:

Quote:
The NFL is still determined to play next Monday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams at Mexico City's Estadio Azteca, league sources told ESPN, despite significant concerns about the poor playing surface.

"We are working closely with the field manager at Azteca Stadium and others to ensure that we have an NFL-quality surface for our game, and we are looking forward to kicking off in Mexico City on Monday night," said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

One source said he still expects the game will be played there. But another source said he thought moving the game to Los Angeles still is an option that will be decided this week.

The issue is that soccer games and concerts have left the field a mess. The teams are aware of the situation, and the NFLPA is concerned and has been monitoring it closely.

NFL officials are expected to convene at the stadium Tuesday in a meeting that was previously scheduled to examine the playing surface and make a final decision about whether the game can and will be played there, sources said. If it is not, the game would be moved to Los Angeles.

But hey, let’s “expand the brand”. If someone gets hurt in this game, arguably the biggest of the season and a possible Championship preview, I really hope the Players Association raises hell with farming out games to other countries. What’s next? Pitt/Bal in Yemen? How about Syria? We really need to get the NFL logo in every corner of the globe.
Why can’t we ship baseball and basketball games to other countries? To make things even, those countries can keep their sports. If you really want to see different cultural sports buy a satellite receiver and have a blast. Shoving culture down the worldwide throat has become tiresome.
