I think the young bucks falter in their respective title games and we end up with a Saints/Pats Super Bowl, with hopefully the Saints winning and Brees riding off into the sunset. But yeah, probably still too early to predict. Playoffs are gonna be nuts.

Do the bears still win if Trubisky is out?

Quote:
Bears coach Matt Nagy said Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is "day to day."

ESPN's Adam Schefter just reported the Bears are "optimistic" Trubisky will play on Thanksgiving, but Nagy did not sound as sunny during his press conference. While he ruled out a long-term injury, the coach said Trubisky is "in pain" and unlikely to practice on Tuesday. Trubisky looks legitimately questionable at this point. Chase Daniel is the backup in Chicago.

If they play like the Skins (defense keeps them in the game, not turning the ball over on offense seals the deal) then yeah, Bears can definitely still win. Didn't even know Trubisky got hurt yesterday, I think they're better off letting him sit out the short week.

Colt McCoy leads the Redskins to a Super Bowl championship but because he isn't named MVP, blogs complain that it should've been Kaep instead because not only would he have been named MVP without question, the NFL would've awarded the Redskins two Super Bowl titles for that one win because of how awesome Kaep's performance was.

Brees will be back next year to break the TD record if he doesn't do it this year, regardless of what happens in the post season.

Ah yeah, didn't think of that. But I wonder if the whole "going out on top" thing would make a difference to him.

It is a possibility, a very good one at that, but he's less than 30 TDs away from the record. Either way, Brees has had a stellar career.

Assuming NO wins it all, and Thomas doesn’t get injured he’s probably going to want his rookie deal run right through the shredder. So that would take a bite out of the roughly $16mil cap space NO is slated to have next year. Not to mention most, if not all their TEs being UFA next season which will eat up a bit more. One wonders if they can afford to have Brees and his $33mil next season.
At the level Brees and the team is playing right now, 24 TDs the rest of this year could happen. Lol. Would be a massive longshot, but after watching that Monday night game, I’m not ruling out anything this year. (Except Philly losing the rest of the way to get a top 3 pick )
But for purely selfish FF purposes, lets hope Brady passes Favre this week on that list!

The Saints are notorious for signing players to deals with huge future cap hits. They live in the present and it's why nearly every year they are near the top of the league in dead money. Brees' deal for instance used an extra year that would automatically void so his 2020 cap hit is $10.5 million even though his deal expires after 2019. If Brees agrees to it they could sign him to an extension just to lower his cap hit in 2019 with the knowledge that he may never play under the extension. They'll sign Thomas to a huge deal with a relatively small 2019 cap hit and huge cap hits at the end of the deal. It's not a terrible philosophy to do it once or twice if you're near a title but the Saints (and often the Cowboys) do it nearly every year.

Whoa whoa! Y'all leave us alone! We are doing good enough to maintain .500 status.

I forgot to look at the dead money. I have trained myself to avoid that column since Philly has been swimming in since the Wentz acquisition and everything that took.
It should be interesting to see, not only, what NO does this season but next season as well. Brees, it seems, has reached Legacy status and will pretty much get to do what he wants. Maybe he goes the Brady route and takes a team friendly deal? Either way he’s good for the League, good for the sport, good for the community and an overall good guy. So I hope he’s around for a few more seasons.

i don’t see them winning by a TD, if they win at all. Giants are hot, Philly is cold and reeling. Philly is 2-3 at home, Giants are 2-3 on the road.
But hey, at least they have Tate whom Groh can’t figure out how to work into the gameplan.
