I went to the Rams-Cardinals game Sunday and people were definitely treating it like Larry Fitzgerald's final home game. I don't think anyone knows for certain, but they did a 2-part tribute to Fitz's 12 greatest plays and during the game he got the loudest applause every time he caught the ball. Definitely a cool atmosphere even in a blowout loss.

He’s just a .500 coach and far from an offensive guru. Another coach who couldn’t get along with players and sent some of the best packing. Abysmal playcalling and fielding a team that looked inept and poorly prepared are how I would describe him.

Anyone watching them play knows they are fortunate to have even won 7 games with how poorly they execute. They look more like a 3 win quality team.

I’m almost positive Ross will keep him on another year, just to see how he does one more season with a different QB. After that doesn’t work, the new coach will be stuck with whatever QB Gase picked and the cycle of blaming everything else continues.
I hope he does stay another year, because it'll remove the temptation for Hee Haw to go after him as hard as he did in 2016. I don't want that guy messing up Baker Mayfield, and hopefully John Dorsey feels the same way.

If the Browns beat the Ravens this Sunday, I don't know how they don't keep the crew they have (Williams HC/Kitchens OC). It would give the Browns a 6-2 record after firing Hue.

Apparently the Dolphins plan to fire their VP of Football Operations, but they plan to keep Gase while also possibly trying to trade for John Harbaugh: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ke-tannenbaum/

It's going to be interesting to see if anything develops with John Harbaugh. Maybe they'll sign him to an extension in the next week or two and he'll truly be the Ravens coach for years, but if he wants power he can't get in Baltimore the Ravens could have a tough decision between letting him coach next year without an extension and then potentially leaving for nothing or trading him now and getting some value. At the very least Harbaugh has the leverage to become one of the highest-paid coaches in the league, whereas a month ago it looked like he was going to get fired.

Oregon's Justin Herbert, who is largely considered the top draft-eligible QB in 2019, announced today he will return to school for his senior year. Interesting both because he could have been a top 5 pick this year and because the 2020 draft class is considered much deeper at QB.

NFL Execs predict Stafford will be traded in 2019

Quote:
Allen Park — Division over quarterback Matthew Stafford might be at an all-time high, but one year into a five-year contract extension he signed in 2017, the idea the Detroit Lions would be able to go a different direction this offseason borders on irrational.

But at least one NFL executive believes Stafford will be on the move in 2019. In an annual post of anonymous predictions around league, one executive predicted on ESPN that Stafford will be traded this year.

"Patricia and (general manager Bob) Quinn both spent a long time in the Patriots' organization, where they watched Tom Brady very closely," the insider told ESPN. "They are going to want somebody who prepares and manages the game more like Tom."

A second anonymous insider added, "Patricia is going to say, 'This is not the guy that is going to get me fired.'"

In Patricia's first season as coach, Stafford has put together an abysmal campaign. While the completion percentage is a respectable 66.3 percent, those completed passes have been minimally impactful. The quarterback is getting just 6.71 yards per attempt, his lowest since 2010, while his interception percentage is at a three-year low.

I’ll give you Tannehill for Stafford, but you have to take Gase too. And I’ll throw in Tannenbaum for free.

The tale of my two teams continues. While Clemson has a dedicated guy just to keep an excited DC Brent Venables from walking out on the field during plays, The Dolphins HC Adam Gase was sitting on the bench during the 4th quarter while the score was 7-7.

Detroit should trade Stafford to Giants for that pick (among others).

Not sure about us taking a safety in the first round, CB seems like a more pressing need unless Deionte Thompson is really that good (I dunno anything about him).

It never ceases to amaze me how much slips past some of these draft ‘experts.’

I've seen some mock drafts that have Oliver falling to the teens. Some people think he's not big enough to be an interior defensive lineman in the NFL.

This mock is from 12/24, which was before Herbert announced he's staying in school.

Thanks! Wasn't aware of that without a link posted, but it has been speculated for quite some time that he was leaning towards staying in school.

The Raiders have enough draft capital to move up a spot and take a Khalil Mack type player
