We need help everywhere including RB and ILB. Are you really happy with our RB's and LB's. We have an almost 40 year old ILB and another one who turned 30. Our RB's aren't all that great despite people pumping them up to be that. You aren't going to cover everything in one draft and trying to depend on one draft is silly. This team need depth and youth at various positions. Let's at least wait first before judging a draft. It annoys me when people already decide on whether a draft is good or bad when none of the players picked have even put on the uniform yet.

So the Draft is over the lockout is back on ... how did your team do...
I give the Lions a Strong C+/Weak B- Fairley pick is good top 5 talent, Shoring up the D line will in effect help the Corners. Lions didnt address the Corner or Linebacker issue until the 5th round, Took another WR and RB in the 2nd round, didn't really address the OL, overall just seemed to stick to a formula of taking best player to possibly provide some depth, which I can understand as we are still feeling the effects of the Millen era 3 years later. |

If Kindle doesn't end up getting back to his pro form then we will be in desperate need at LB in the next draft, as Ray Lewis will be 37-38 (not sure. I'd like him to at least get a chance to mentor the hopeful replacement a season or two. And we drafted a RB. Waste of a pick IMO. We have Ray Rice, Willis McGahee, and (if they re-sign him) Le'Ron McClain. All in all it could not have been much better. As for the Lions (your team) I couldn't have liked the Fairley pick any more. He will be a beast along with Suh. That line is going to be scary and should take a lot of pressure off the CB's anyways. Get a good Safety and you'll be set on Defense. They just need a better line to protect Old Glass Shoulder. |

Try as I might I still can't figure out what Atlanta was thinking trading away the 27th, 59th and 124th this year plus their 1st and 4th round picks in 2012 for Julio Jones. This could turn out to be among the worst trades ever. Jones has a lot of potential but the knock on him that he drops the ball a lot is completely true. Unless he turns out to be a HOF'er he isn't worth anywhere close to what Atlanta gave up.
Hell, all Jacksonville gave up to get the #10 pick was the #16 pick and a 2nd round pick. I can't imagine why Atlanta needed to give up so much. As for JaMarcus Jr.... err... Cam Newton, I still don't know what Carolina was thinking. Same with Tennessee overdrafting Jake Locker at #8 and Minnesota taking Ponder at #12. Teams are getting ridiculous with overdrafting QB's. I like Minnesota's draft picks... except Ponder. I've seen many of his college games and I've never seen anything in him that would lead me to believe he'll be any better than an average NFL QB at best. He's a 2nd or 3rd round talent at best.

Yeah, they did try to trade down but there was no takers so they had to take Ponder before the Redskins would draft him at #16 but quarterback is a huge need for the Vikings so I am okay with it

Reaching in the draft is always a bad thing but as long as the Vikings still get a veteran to run the ship for a couple years, that guy can be the #1 and Webb can be the #2 and Ponder can learn in the wings as the #3. Not the best scenario but not a disaster either.

I hope the collective bargaining includes a cap for rookies like they have in the NBA and NHL. I would hate to see Newton get stupid money and flame out like JaMarcus.
The Vikings hopefully will look for a veteran quarterback, not someone who has retired or on the verge of retiring. We need help in that area. Defense looks good with the additions but drafting Ponder was not what I expected. |

Odd draft for the Patriots. Last year they had the top scoring offense and a fairly poor defense, so it was a bit odd when the Patriots used 6 of their first 7 picks on offensive players and never really addressed the pass rush. I think Ras I-Dowling should be a good player, but cornerback was the least of their defensive concerns with Leigh Bodden returning from injury and Devin McCourty manning the other side. I didn't understand the Patriots drafting running backs with second and third round picks. I thought they needed a running back but I don't know when both guys will see the field when the Pats already have Green-Ellis and Woodhead. Marcus Cannon could be a great pick. He was projected to be a second round pick but he was recently diagnosed with non-Hogkin's lymphoma. Still, he is going through treatment that is expected to end in June and he could turn out to be a steal if everything goes well. I don't tend to criticize Patriots drafts because several picks that seemed questionable turned out great so we'll see how this ends up.

Yeah it really was an odd draft for them you would think they would have been picking guy's like Bowers and just seeing what sticks, but again guess they don't do it that way

I was more surprised that they didn't draft a defensive lineman. There seemed to be quite a few who could have played end in the Patriots 3-4 scheme. I'm also surprised they didn't draft another offensive lineman in the first 3-4 rounds, particularly since Cannon isn't expected to play this season. While the Ras-I Dowling pick may seem odd, I kind of like it. They have been hampered in the postseason by their inability to cover big reciever's, Dowling's size is something the Patriots have not had at their CB position in a long time. If he works out it could pay huge dividends for them in the playoffs. With FA not having taken place, this draft will undoubtedly be one of the oddest in NFL history. It will be interesting to see which FA agents end up where and whether or not the Draft may have influenced some possible destinations for the 200+ FAs.
