Josh Gordon signed his FA tender with the Pats, meaning if he gets reinstated by the league he will return to NE

Extending Ben also confuses me, this dude was talking about retirement like two years ago.

He talks about retirement more than Favre, which means Pittsburgh should draft his successor and then Ben will suddenly stick around for three more years.

It's crazy how many chances Gordon has gotten to play in the league.

Yeah, I don't get the whole Ben thing either. I mean, does PIT think that they have their QB of the future on the team already in (presumably) Mason Rudolph and they just need a few more years out of him or do they expect him to perform well at his age after all the hits he's taken over the years throwing to WRs with not a lot of time in the league?

If Pittsburgh really wants to roll with Ben and Rudolph long term, I’m cool with it.

Didn’t Ben have one of his best statistical seasons last year?
That aside, if I’m the front office I’m waiting to see how he handles life without Bell and Brown.

Makes sense for Ben to wanna get his money while the getting's relatively good. Just don't understand why teams like Pitt and NYG won't move on. Not complaining, just confused.

He handled life without Bell already last year, we'll see about Brown soon enough.

Ben has every right to get his extension. His play hasn't dropped and just like Brady, he'll adjust fine and play well with the players around him. Nothing new.

And yeah... Josh Gordon can think whatever, but he'll never play again.

Well obviously

But it'd be nice if more players actually showed up. The stuff in April isn't much, no pads or scrimmages, and most players often work out privately, but it'd also be nice if they were there day 1 being leaders, helping out, building chemistry early on, coaches, etc.

Have you not paid attention to the Steelers? They had nearly 0 drop off without Bell last season and Juju was realistically last years number one imo on that team which is why Brown acted like a candy ass. Now you are minus those two large contracts to use elsewhere.

A primary reason the Steelers want to sign Ben to an extension is to get his cap number down. They only have $5.8 million in cap space and they're going to need roughly $8 million to sign their draft picks. Signing Ben to a new contract will get them the cap room to sign the rookies plus give them a cushion to sign additional players during camp or the season.

JuJu had the luxury of Brown drawing coverage. He won’t have that this year.
Conner didn’t break 1k yards but was up there in TDs, barely in top 30 in YPC.
Maybe both of them replicate Bell/Brown numbers, maybe they don’t. If I’m Pittsburgh I’m waiting on a new deal. Maybe extend him for cap relief this season.

Rumor mill has Skins potentially trading with the Jets for the #3 to take Haskins.

There you go, good analysis. Plus it makes BB a Steeler for life which the fanbase will gobble up.
