Kind of a "meh" day of football for the common fan. I'm sure the San Francisco and Kansas City fans loved it.

Hopefully the Super Bowl is better (and it looks like it will be amazing).

Cheering for the Chiefs. The best player should lead his team to the SB and win it (yes, it's a team game, but my point is that the greatest players on great teams find a way to win)...Mahomes is the best player in the league right now.

Can we all now acknowledge what Jimmy G is? He's game manager type QB, similar/possibly slightly better than Ryan Tannehill with Tennessee. Unlikely he'll ever be anything more than that, although it might be enough to get the Niners a Super Bowl. I think KC wins it in any case.

How closely do you watch, follow the Niners? Are you calling him a game manager based off of this one game?

This is a tricky Super Bowl to pick. On one hand, the 49ers have a great run game and possibly the better defense*. On the other hand, the Chiefs seem to have the better overall talent, and definitely the better, more-proven quarterback.

There's also my go-to rule where, more times than not, the Conference Champion who rolls the easiest in their respective victory, which this year is San Francisco, is usually the team that loses the Super Bowl.

* The 49ers defense is great, but I also think it's slightly-glossed when you think about the Vikings coming in on a short week and the Packers coming in with hardly any offensive punch at all.

Based on his career as a starter on the whole. In this postseason (two games), he's thrown 27 passes for 208 yards total, 1 TD/1 Int. In the regular season he threw 27 TD/13 Int, with a passing yards per game number similar to Tannehill's. These are game manager numbers.

Also, if there is a wide gap in talent between starting QB's the team with the better QB tends to win more often than not. That is the case here with Mahomes.

They’re all game managers, but when you’re this effective running the ball and it’s working, no reason to deviate from it.

Jimmy G could have 3 SB rings in 2 weeks.
Legend.

He has 2 rings to date... in the same sense that guys like Chris Barker also received rings from those Patriots teams for hanging around and practicing with the team. Only time I can recall Garoppolo ever playing in New England was those few games Brady was suspended (even there Brissett started as many games),and a few times when the Pats were up by or trailing by >4 TD's late in games.

There are equipment managers with rings whom I would give more respect to than Jimmy G.'s hardware.

Jimmy G is a pretender. Game manager for sure. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl as a game manager too.

He isn't a guy who can take the game over.

Rooting for the Chiefs/Andy Reid, but it looks like this Niners team will win.

Hopefully it's a good game.

NFL already being fools and not letting the Niners wear their all-white throwbacks for the Super Bowl. They last wore them in Week 17.

IMO it would look better on tv. You already have two teams who wear a variation of red/gold

Just because Jimmy GQ doesn’t have gaudy stats doesn’t take away from his effectiveness within the offense. He doesn’t need to carry the offense when he knows their running game is such a weapon.

Chiefs all red, Niners all black would look dope.

Garoppolo has only one full season (started all 16 games) as a starter, a little too early to label him a game manager dont you think?

Here's a look at a few other QB's stats in their first full season:

Drew Brees - 60.8 comp%, 3284 yds, 17 TD, 16 INT, 6.2 Y/A, 76.9 rating.

Tom Brady - 62.1 comp%, 3764 yds, 28 TD, 14 INT, 6.3 Y/A, 85.7 rating.

P. Manning - 56.7 comp%, 3739 yds, 26 TD, 28 INT, 6.5 Y/A, 71.2 rating.

Brett Favre - 60.9 comp%, 3303 yds, 19 TD, 24 INT, 6.3 Y/A, 72.2 rating.

I wonder if any of these guys were considered game managers during the aforementioned seasons. And here's Garoppolo's stats for comparison:

Jimmy G. - 69.1 comp%, 3978 yds, 27 TD, 13 INT, 8.4 Y/A, 102.0 rating.
