• Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker is interim Head Coach for the Jags.

• Wayne Weaver will only sell the Jags if the buyer keeps the Jaguars in Jacksonville and that new owner he found is Shahid Khan. So, Weaver seems to be right about not letting the team leave Jax.

• General Manager Gene Smith gets a contract extension (3 years).

There might be a clause about keeping the team in Jax, but I doubt any buyer would agree to keep it there especially if they got some amazing offer from another city.

Well, as a true Jaguar fan since 1995. I can breathe a sigh of a relief for a bit longer.

Fresh new start on January 4, 2012. Potential new head coach, and new owner in Shahid Khan who is committed of supporting the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

Weaver will be missed.


EDIT: Weaver even said we made mistakes on 1st Round picks, but he said "you know who they are".

Without question. He and Delores were pillars of the community, and will likely continue to be. I think the community of NFL owners will miss him, too. Remember, part of the reason Jacksonville got a team is that the owners really liked Wayne Weaver.

Yup, and I was jumping for joy when I heard Weaver bought an NFL team in Jacksonville. What made him more committed in recent years as he even turned down all the calls and meetings from California that he wasn't interested moving the team out of Jax.

Today though is a historic day in Jacksonville. I feel good right now although our season is lost.

I think he's making the point that the league is much more offensively oriented now, than it was then. For instance the average passing offense in 1984 had fewer than 3300 yards passing. The average for 2011 is nearly 3700 yards when forecast over 16 games.

If you apply a rate based upon the difference between the average passing offenses of 2011 vs. 1984, to the 5018 yards of the Dolphin passing offense for 1984, the resulting total would be 5619 passing yards or 351 yds/game.

Rumors are swirling in Big D that Rob Ryan may be headed to Jacksonville to be their head coach next year, I hope not. Hoping they hire someone like Mike Martz, I want Rob to get a chance to build the D he wants to build before someone else takes him off our hands.

Colts fired defensive coordinator Larry Coyer.
Coyer was one of head coach Jim Caldwell's first hires when he got the job in 2009. It remains to be seen if Caldwell will make it to the 2012 season. The 0-11 Colts have given up more points than any team in the league as their tiny secondary gets exposed week after week. Coyer will be replaced by linebacker coach Mike Murphy. The Colts play in New England on Sunday.

You realize if you had a kicker, Shenanigans would have you at at least 6-5 right now since Graham Gano cost you both Cowboys games.
