The only team I could see Cowher coaching next year is the Giants. If he coaches he's going to want to go to a stable franchise with a strong nucleus. The Jags roster is a mess that is going to take a couple years to rebuild and Cowher isn't going to want to take that on.

Hey we had to deal with David Buehler last year, who cost us at least 2 games. A better kicker and a healthy Romo all year and maybe we go 10-6 instead of 6-10.

Is Weaver selling 100% of the team or is he staying on as a minority owner? In his press conference Weaver was talking about how he will be very involved in the new coaching search and that doesn't make much sense if he's not staying on in some capacity.

I think we can both say we're happy not to have Suisham.

If you apply a rate based upon the difference between the average passing offenses of 2011 vs. 1984, to the 5018 yards of the Dolphin passing offense for 1984, the resulting total would be 5619 passing yards or 351 yds/game.
I have to say, I was hoping for but never expected such an eloquent response. Well done!

established head coaches don't go to rebuilding franchises
unless you're Parcells of course and looking for a payday

He said in the conference that he sold it to Kahn 100%. Weaver will stick around if Kahn needs help, but Weaver ultimately said he's moving away from anything NFL related as he's pretty much retiring.

I want a big name coach. Big names never existed in Jacksonville.

I disagree to some extent. The defense is pretty damn good (4th in the league in total defense right now). Get a couple of playmakers on offense and an experienced coach like the Chin could do quite well.

Suisham is going to cost the Steelers in the play-offs, I will never stop laughing if that actually comes true. You sign a bad kicker, you get exactly what you deserve, right San Diego?

Offense is pretty much a mess. Free agency can only get you far, but not too long. Key players on WR, and a better Oline would make our team win.

Our defense is lights out, currently 3rd of 4th right now

Yeah but he's better known as the Giants coach to take them to the Super Bowl.

Not everyone knew who he was when they signed him.

If Cowher took a Florida job it would be Miami, not Jacksonville anyway.

Few stud WRs in the next draft but I think you need to take another QB, yes I've already given up on Blaine Gabbert. You can always take a WR in the 2nd round and the 3rd as well, if necessary.

Well I normally oppose taking a WR early in a draft, but I think OK St.'s Blackmon in an exception. He's one of the better WR's I've seen coming out of college. But I'll bet Carolina ends up with the #2 or 3 overall pick and takes him to compliment Cam Newton.

The argument I'm hearing is he's actually better than Dez Bryant. Talent is comparable but as far as polish and maturity go, it's not even close. Yes I could see him going to Carolina, which should make that offense scary good as he complements one of the best old guy receivers in the league, Steve Smith. Would open up the run for their two good RBs Williams and Stewart, as well. Could well make the Panthers like the recent Rams and Chiefs that put points up on everybody but couldn't stop anybody either. In that division it would most likely lead to a lot of fun shoot-outs.

Wait do you mean he's less polished and mature then Bryant (that seems very hard to do )

Interim coach Mel Tucker confirmed Tuesday that rookie Blaine Gabbert will remain the Jaguars' starting quarterback going forward.
"Blaine is our quarterback now and our quarterback of the future," emphasized Tucker. GM Gene Smith is obviously pulling the strings after trading up to select Gabbert at No. 10 overall. While it may be premature to write off Gabbert as a bust after nine starts, we don't recall ever seeing a quarterback that timid in pocket graduating to franchise level. The Jags are going to have a tough time attracting a quality head coach in 2012 with Smith so obstinately invested in Gabbert.

Since the damage has been done at the QB position before the Season began. I'm sticking with Gabbert. Like I said, I can't fully criticize him until we get a true WR core and a consistent offensive line.

Although, I don't pay attention to College Football. We can use a new WR. Last time we had a true #1 WR was Jimmy Smith, and that was in the 90's before he retired in the mid 2000's.

The last 2 WR's were busts, especially former Arkansas QB/WR Matt Jones.
