2. He deserves to start, and most teams are content with their starter
3. His injury history/COVID really put a hamper on the timing

Which is why I thought the best option was for him to play out this year on the Panthers, where they could show other teams he's healthy for trading purposes and get him a better contract offer.

He fit Harbaugh's system at the time, rode that wave until it died and Harbaugh was fired. Tomsula and Kelly didn't run the same system, didn't know how to use him and the deal Kaep signed made it easy for the Niners to part with him. Even had the kneeling issue not become a national story, he would've been gone. If he was any other QB he would've become a journeyman or back up somewhere but no team wants the baggage that comes with him. It's a business, pretty simple concept when it comes down to it but media gonna media.

Important part in bold. Plus how much time has passed at this point? Im not saying he doesn't deserve to be in the league. And I want to do it while taking politics out of it. How many teams could he realistically start for?

If Kaep were to get signed this is definitely his best opportunity since he left San Francisco. The problem for him is Cam is sitting out there too.

Ehh, not sure about now but over the years, since he first left SF, teams like JAC or MIA (not since they drafted or signed new QB's) needed a better starter. Amidst the (media driven) "new push" to get him signed somewhere, anywhere, he has been his own worst enemy. DEN tried to sign him right after he left SF but he refused to take a pay cut. BAL had him to talk about backing up Flacco but his dumb girlfriend went on Twitter to compare Ray Lewis and Steve Biscoitti to Calvin Candie and Stephen Warren. Can't forget him turning last years potential workout into a media circus. Time has shown he is more into the attention and social media "clout" than actually wanting to play football. Most importantly, he is over 30 and hasn't played in four years now.

I mean, the argument would be about his off-the-field advocacy, which has had a clear impact beyond just the game. I'm not sure I'd put him in the HOF for it, mainly because I do think it should be a place for on-field contributions (honest question: do people like, say, broadcasters get in?), but I understand where the sentiment comes from.

Baltimore would be the best place for Kaepernick as a backup to Jackson. OC Greg Roman was his OC in San Fran during Harbaugh's time as HC, but as stated above, his girlfriend ruined that opportunity.

His kneeling for the anthem started after they became a couple. To say she leans left would be an understatement. Imo, she's a big reason why he's transformed from a QB to activist...I don't think it's a coincidence.
