You mean Justin Herbert right? If they got him Tyrod is getting cut. There’s no way they carry 3 QB’s every week.

I just remember months ago, when Lynn was asked why they weren't looking at Cam, it was implied that they were comfortable with Taylor as their starter. Maybe that was before the draft though?

That was definitely before the draft. Plus there’s no way they’d risk placing Herbert on the practice squad as he’d get stolen away.

No a first rounder wouldn't be placed on the practice squad but I also don't know that he's the projected starter over Taylor. Its rare these days but some team do keep three QB's on the roster, I don't think they would make a decision until final roster cuts. All that aside, I don't think Kaep will be signed anyways.

I would think the plan is that Tyrod is an insurance policy in case Herbert isn’t ready to start by Week 1. With the pandemic blowing up everything, Herbert has missed a lot of valuable time in the team facility.

I can't believe Kaepernick is being considered after he sued the NFL for collusion.

Chargers just have interest in bringing him in for a workout. Teams do this all the time just to keep their spreadsheet up to date in case they get hit by the injury bug during camp and heading towards the season. It’s only a headline because it’s Kaepernick.

I mean Eric Reed sued as well and was signed to a 3 year contract with the Panthers right after that lawsuit.

Glad to see the 49ers sign Shanahan to a new 6 yr deal. Barring anything drastic, there will finally be some stability at the HC position for years to come, There's a possibility they're going to give Lynch a promotion to Team President too. Both of these guys are responsible for the remarkable turnaround over the last two seasons, so it's good to see them rewarded for their efforts.

Now if they can just re-sign Kittle already.....

Should be interesting to see what Kelce, Kittle and Ertz do with their contracts going forward. They want to be paid like WRs, as well they should. They all have been top 20 in receptions for several years.

Rumor is Kittle is asking for $20 mil. This might be a negotiating tactic, and I have no problem with Kittle becoming the highest paid TE in the league, but that's a little too much (for salary cap purposes, not necessarily player value). With potentially large contracts looming for Bosa, Warner, and a handful of other players down the line, I unfortunately don't see that happening.

Depending how Covid impacts the future salary cap, some players are coming up for new deals at a very unknown time.

Philly is going to be in the same boat with Ertz. They are already cash strapped next year and need to rollover, preferably, all the ~$26mil to next years cap. Maybe he gives a team friendly deal like Wentz did, but I don’t see that happening. Breaking Witten’s NFL receptions/season record will be out front on the negotiating table I would imagine. With a solid #2 TE in Goedert maybe Philly looks to trade?

Quote:
Coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci believes the NFL will have a difficult time playing the 2020 season unless it is conducted in a "bubble" environment.
"Unless players are essentially in a bubble — insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day — it would be very hard to see how football is able to be played this fall," Fauci said. "If there is a second wave, which is certainly a possibility and which would be complicated by the predictable flu season, football may not happen this year." It could be argued that Fauci is just stating the obvious, but at least publicly, the NFL has not even considered the possibility. The league has gone to great pains to insist the season will go off as scheduled, albeit likely without fans. Hopefully the NFL is doing more planning behind the scenes than what has been reported publicly. The league's vast number of personnel would make a bubble extraordinarily difficult to pull off.

Jamal Adams has requested a trade. I guess he also named 7 teams that he'd like...

Unfortunately for him, he doesn’t have a choice.
