all this talk about snyder being a terrible owner... yeah ok.

but gimme a break. wasn’t kraft caught soliciting for sex with a masseuse? and we’ve all forgotten about that.

but sure, some people who worked in the organization were terrible and not nice. i’m shocked, i tell you. shocked. it’s almost low, they live in the real world. i don’t why people are surprised that some people who have a lot of money wind up being terrible.

also the part people seem to be missing is that he or the team president were not accused of anything...but they felt he had to know? why would we know? because they just want to pile on the owner?

don’t give a shit about the name. the only people i ever heard complain about it were people who didn’t even watch football. i guess maybe i’m missing the point, but the changing the name doesn’t mean you’ve solved racism. wouldn’t a better idea be for him to make some type of charity donation to indigenous people? if the name is changed, they get a grand total of zero dollars.

trying to sanitize and ignore the past isn’t a solution.

if the story is a true about the missed block... that’s a crazy coincidence that costs them $100 mil. because wasn’t smiths contract guaranteed?

More specifically, the league's lack of a plan. "If the NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020," were the words of Drew Brees, amongst many others. Players from J.J. Watt to Russell Wilson took part in the effort. In Watt's post, he said players still do not know how a positive COVID-19 test will be handled, or how the league might handle opt-outs. The league is still trying to claim players will report as usual this week, but the number of unresolved critical issues is massive.

R.I.P. NFL for 2020.

When the players start opting out, and they will, I wonder how many...and how marquee....will it take to halt the season?

It sounds like Tank, Brees, Watt and Wilson are already on board with sitting out. That's a pretty big hit already. Expecting a lot more names to join the list this week.

Most of the them are just threatening it to get the NFL to cave in to their demands. The big name that seems to be seriously considering it is Lawrence. Deadlines tend to spur action, hopefully both sides can come to an agreement tonight.

How does the NFL not have these issues sorted out yet? They've had the whole off-season.

Well the NFL is run by a very small demographic of people who probably...I'll just leave it at that because I know how the mods feel about COVID-19 posts outside the designated thread.

Yeah, it’s pretty ridiculous. I’m sure they assumed the virus would be more under control by now, but why take it to the final hour?

August 1 is the deadline to opt out. That seems too early, but of course teams will need to react. Players with family members that could have underlying issues wouldn’t care what the league does. The league can’t guarantee their safety. They aren’t playing in a bubble, so risk is much higher. All it takes is one and it will spread like wildfire through the locker room. You know these clowns won’t hunker down, so it’s almost a guarantee a lot of positive tests will happen. I keep mentioning it, but what happens when key players test positive and start missing crucial games?
This has absolute mess written all over it.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic. This isn’t going to be a normal season. Nothing in our lives is going to be normal until there is a vaccine widely available to people. Life also has to go on. Every day I go to work I put myself at risk of contracting the virus, but that’s what I have to do to provide for my family. I don’t have a choice. NFL players have the advantage of being able to opt out of their job and still have it the following year. I wish I did.

Pro sports is not an essential line of work.
Outside of rabid sports fans’ opinions, fact is it’s not. So with that being said, their line of work is actually counterproductive to all approved safety measures. Which is why there is so much kickback. I get that the world can’t grind to a halt, some things can. Pro sports is definitely one of them. Will that have a financial impact, sure. But what if one person connected to NFL operations loses their life, be it: player, staff, media, facility worker etc?
What is the value place on that life, or lives?
I want the NFL as much as the next person, but I would rather give as much time to give medical experts time to work this pandemic.

Maybe some of the stars sit out, but the rank and file risk it because they need money?

Don't confuse the league's wilting proposal from two preseason games to one as "progress". The players still want the preseason replaced altogether with a longer acclimation period in order to fully prepare for the regular season and aren't likely to agree to anything less. The proposed preseason game would also take place on August 27, which would deter from the NFLPA's request for a full 21 days for strength and conditioning. The Chiefs and Texans are expected to report on Monday amid negotiations.

I do think they need at least one preseason game as a dry run, just to see how protocols work and, if possible, to test players before and after the game to see if any transmission occurs. Ideally they'd have it during what would normally be the first week of preseason, and use the remaining three weeks to tinker as needed.

Officials could definitely use a dry run.

Officials need an entire off-season of dry runs lol, and not just this season.
