Back on March 30th, the Chiefs had exactly $171 - yes $171 - in salary cap space. Since then, they've signed Patrick Mahomes to a record-setting 10-year extension and Travis Kelce and Chris Jones to huge 4-year extensions. Cap gurus Brandt Tilis and Chris Shea have worked magic.

The cap hits are fairly easy to manipulate, but it usually does catch up to you at some point.

The monkey wrench in that plan is this pandemic and the possibility of the cap going the other way for the first time in a long time. That said it is hard to argue with any of these extensions, all top players.



Wonder if this is Jerry's vision to get Cowboy fans at the games in the coming months.

The Cowboys were never close in offseason talks — Prescott wanted less years and more money than Dallas offered. It’s still surprising Prescott’s agent didn't lock down a deal. The Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb and added an improved support cast, but it's going to be hard for Prescott to build off the 306 YPG he averaged in 2019. We’d expect Prescott’s extension to get done after this year — a step back or injury would potentially complicate things. The Cowboys can franchise Prescott a second time for $38 million — a 20 percent increase from this year's tag.

You really have no choice other than paying him. You’re not going to go into QB purgatory with the skills position players on your roster.
