Personally, I'd rather have DK...bigger, stronger, faster and more of a home run threat. I get that Deebo is more of a Swiss Amy knife who is used all over the field (which is part of what makes him special), but due to that, he has also gotten knocked around a good bit. AJ Brown would be interesting due to his ties with his former teammate Elijah Moore from Ole Miss and possibly also reuniting with Corey Davis.

The 49ers’ arch nemesis, Trent Baalke, strikes again. As for Deebo, I was hoping they could work it out and keep him but apparently there are some personal issues he has along with his asking price. At this point, just trade him and move on.

This is why giving him a new contract at his asking price (supposedly at least $25 mil a year) is risky. Don’t need another Dee Ford situation.

49ers can play hard ball with him. They have all the leverage with the current CBA.

Then you have a disgruntled player on your hands and possibly turmoil in your locker room. None of this is needed. Deebo asking for a trade changed this whole situation. It’s going to be hard to move forward amicably after this. Again, trade him and move on. Plenty of WR”s in this draft.

@JosinaAnderson

Meanwhile, my understanding is there's feeling currently* within the #Jets org that WR Deebo Samuel won't be moved at all, unless San Francisco gets a King's ransom, per league source.

And news flash, Joe Douglas isn't gonna offer a king's ransom.

Be careful. Players like Deebo don’t grow on trees. It’s always a risk hoping a star can be replaced by cheap labor.

True, but it’s a risk teams have to take. The 49ers have very little salary cap room at this point. They still have Bosa to deal with. Deebo doesn’t look like he wants to play for the 49ers anymore, so why handicap the team any further by giving another huge contract to someone who doesn’t want to be there?

Sounds like the issue is he wants to be used like a traditional WR.

Reading up online, lots of info out there, hard to know whats true and whats not. Some of the more reliable beat writers are erring more on the side of this is all hardball. He is under contact for another year and they can franchise him next offseason if necessary. He figures this is his best bet before the draft to get a huge payday, since the WR market exploded. Some also say that he knows he has a bit of leverage in that he would be the number one weapon for first year starter in Lance.
Also need to keep in mind that he shares an agent with Metcalf and Brown, who are also looking for new deals, so Deebo may be the guinea pig, considering his unique skillset, to set another ceiling.
Some say he has an issue with usage but I am not buying that, since being used as "wideback" (a term he coined because he said he loved getting the ball so much) he emerged as a superstar in the league.
Some are saying they never believed the Niners would trade DeFo but they did and the defense was just as strong without him, they didn't have to pay him.
So I am not yet with Dragon in the "trade him" camp but if they got the right offer they just might. I saw some speculation that while scouting QB's before last years draft they may also have gotten looks at this years WR receiver rich draft.
It would be the ultimate lesson if they traded him and just plugged someone new into that role with the same success. Years ago when they signed Jerrick McKinnon they were hyping him to be a receiving RB akin to Faulk years ago, but that never panned out since he was always injured.
Whatever happens, its just a shame because he is loved here and there are better ways of handling this. From all accounts its a tight locker room and the team still could be in the mix with Trey next year. It all seemed to just escalate really quickly.

Edit - he has since deleted it but earlier Deebo tweeted "Reporters jobs is to make stories only people know the truth is 49ers Tory Dandy (his agent) and Deebo Samuel"

I think the mistake some teams are making is assuming the WR draft class is going to be as good as the stars wanting to be paid their market value. They are stars for a reason. It’s not easy to copy them.

The Jag-offs are to blame for this WR mess for WAY overpaying for Christian Kirk.

100% they ruined the WR market for every team in the NFL. Now every mid tier talent at the position wants at minimum Kirk money.

I’m eager to see if he drafts a Harbaugh guy at #1. That would be some irony.

Peter King said amazon wants a black friday game.
Probably wont be this yr but maybe starting next yr.
Would most likely be a 4:25p kick since they cant play at night due to antitrust laws.

Rumor is the Hawks are locked in to draft OT Trevor Penning at #9. Which would make sense because that position is a need. Also, a rumor that they plan on trading back into the end of the first round to draft a QB. Excited and nervous to see how the Hawks handle this draft
