The NFL never stated the game would start after a 5 minute warmup, as ESPN reported on-air. They should apologize.

I checked to see what ESPN has posted about this, and they left out addressing how they came to make their on-air statement about a 5 minute warmup. ESPN simply deflected to the statement that NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent made in the media conference call that happened later: "Vincent said that there was not a discussion between him and commissioner Roger Goodell about a five-minute period for players to get warmed up and that resuming play did not cross their minds."

Here are some things one can do in support of Damar:

This gofundme/charity was started before his time in the NFL:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/mxksc-the...nity-toy-drive

As we all know, CPR was critical to helping Damar on the field last night. Take a CPR class, never know when you could help someone:

https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/cpr

Donate blood. Think about doing a double Red blood cell donation as well (this blood take minimal testing and can help someone later that day). With the pandemic, blood donations are critical right now:

After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals game will not be resumed this week.

The NFL has made no decision regarding the possible resumption of the game at a later date.

This was an interesting interview on NPR this am:

Tuft's specialist thought it looked familiar to injuries that occur in Hockey and Lacrosse.

Wow this is something 50 years ago marks the death of Chuck Hughes, the only NFL player to die on the field.

Quote:

On a gloomy, damp afternoon 50 years ago Sunday, 54,418 excited football fans made their pilgrimage to Tiger Stadium to see if the Detroit Lions, sporting a four-game winning streak and tied for first place with Minnesota in the NFC Central Division, could defeat the “Monsters of the Midway” led by Chicago’s Dick Butkus.

With the Lions in a two-minute drill and trailing, 28-23, little-used Chuck Hughes, who entered the game in the fourth quarter replacing the injured Larry Walton, made a 32-yard catch from quarterback Greg Landry for a first down on the Bears’ 37-yard line.

However, by 3:30 p.m. Oct. 24, 1971, the game’s outcome seemed meaningless. The tragedy that occurred with a minute left to play would forever serve as a glaring reminder of life’s fragility.

It is believed that Hughes is the only NFL player from the who died while competing in a game.

Or give the Bengals the win as the score was 7-3 Bengals and move on with the current schedule.

Or perhaps make it a tie. Doubtful they eat into the SB prep's tightly orchestrated timeline.

That doesn't solve any of the problems not having a result makes though. This was a important game regarding seeding so i dont think a tie would work here.

That's probably why, insensitive as it was, the NFL tried to get them to resume play.

Why not, ties figure into playoff seedings/eliminations. It's an incomplete game and therefore couldn't be awarded to CIN.

Doesn't resuming a game take place right after when the game was stopped? 7-3 Bengals?

Don't know how that is a good idea. Best to just go down as a tie and move on.

They are not going to give a team a win after only 9 minutes of play. That's the equivalent of 1 1/3 innings of baseball. The game will end up being cancelled with no result, or perhaps more likely, the regular season will be extended as mentioned (with no off week for the Super Bowl), since there are significant playoff scenarios riding on the game.

I highly doubt they're going to eat into the tight SB timeline...that thing is highly orchestrated.

Would moving the Super Bowl back a week as well be a better option?

When they were considering an 18-game season (and ultimately agreeing upon a 17-game season), I remember reading that the NFL didn't want to encroach upon the long President's Day (Monday, 02/20) weekend.

One of my friends on Facebook said if the NFL actually cared about this guy, they'd cancel the whole rest of the season. Like it would be that easy, for anyone.

Funny part is this guy is Pro-Soccer and when the very same thing happened to a soccer player to years ago, they played the game less than 2 hours later.

I brought it up, he had no response. Hmm.

If the Chiefs lose LV Raiders, I wonder if they would chose (or need) to play the game? The Bills and Bengals hold the tie breaker on the Chiefs. So, the Bills could be considered seeded 1, Bengals 2 and Chiefs 3. Of course, that would assume the Bills and Bengals both win their games this weekend.

I can't speak for Chiefs Kingdom, but personally, I wouldn't have a problem with that decision.

Cancelling the rest of the season is a ridicules idea, what happened was terrible, but I don't see anything, not even a slight bit wrong with the league resuming games this upcoming week.

What makes it even more special is this was a charity that Damar started when he was a student athlete at Pittsburg
