Sean Payton to the Broncos... the Broncos have their new head coach

Broncos agree to deal with Saints to hire Sean Payton as head coach. (via Ian Rapoport & Tom Pelissero)

Broncos acquired coach Sean Payton from the Saints in exchange for first- and second-round picks.

The first-rounder is in 2023 via Miami and the Bradley Chubb trade. The second-rounder is a 2024 selection. The Broncos are also receiving a 2024 third-rounder from the Saints. This certainly doesn't feel like something we'd have been surprised about when the offseason started, but Payton and the Broncos appeared to have drifted apart at some point in their talks after their initial interview. With DeMeco Ryans appearing likely to head to the Texans and Jim Harbaugh rebuffing Denver's advances, it's possible that they just saw Payton as their best possible candidate left. Denver's offense should receive a big boost with Payton back, but reviving Russell Wilson after his dreadful 2022 may be Payton's toughest task yet.

So the Broncos basically gave up two entire drafts worth of picks for Russell Wilson and Sean Payton. Unless Payton can pull off a miracle and fix Russell, this whole episode is going to set the Broncos back 5-10 years.

Brady never had the benefit of a solid run game in NE because thats never what Belichik tailored his offense to. I would think Brady and the Pats would have been even scarier if they did but hey, what they did worked for them.
Shanahan has shown that he can tailor the offense around whoever the QB is. Its about getting the ball to his playmakers and letting them do the work. No way Brady would be rolling out, not at this age but that's never been his game, but a peppering of some play action with him and all the skill players would be scary for opposing defenses.
My first thought is that the Niners wouldn't do this but Purdy potentially won't be back until week 1, the window to win is now but it still begs the question of what to do with Lance. Gonna be an interesting offseason.

Payton kept the Saints in the mix without Brees. They weren't great but certainly were better than anyone thought they'd be.
I get why Demeco took the job but anyone who takes that job has their work cut out for them and likely won't last more than two or three seasons

I was hoping he would finish his career with LV. Finally the Raiders would’ve had greatest QB ever. On the flip side, Carolina should have no problem beating Tampa twice a season now

I won't believe it till next NFL season starts and hes not playing. Interesting timing with the movie coming out. If he's out what an amazing career and NFL player. This is probably it 45 isn't old in real life but in pro sports it's ancient. I think he had like two more seasons in him though but I guess he just woke up and said to hell with it it's time.

Olson has to be sweatin bullets right now. Those saying good riddance, well, you'll get to see him doing color for FOX NFL games or the pregame show from here on out. Fox should have Brady do play-by-play and have Gronk as his sidekick doing the color commentary. That would be hilarious

It has not been released which color pants the Chiefs will be wearing with the white Jersey top.

This topic came up this morning on local sports talk as well. I think some are confused by Patrick's video displaying the white Jersey top....as the camera pans down, the white under the jersey top is a white t-shirt and not pants.
