![]() I haven't heard anyone intelligent say he is a checkdown merchant. Those who actually watch and report on him say he knows how to read the defense, processes quickly and makes the correct play. Add to that, Shanahan's offense runs lots of shallow crossing routes regardless of who the QB is, they rely on YAC and why wouldn't you when McCaffrey, Kittle and Deebo can barrel over defenders. Oh and for good measure, Brock has the highest completion rate for throws over 20+ yds this season, at 65.9% - previous mark was 54.5% set by Tua last year. anyways - I heard the BUF-DAL line was initially set because there was a chance for snow on Sunday but looks like no snow until Monday at this point I saw the initial replay of Mahome losing it on the sideline and shrugged it off. But seeing he brought it up in the postgame handshake with Allen and then in the presser, not a good look. I get the competitive spirit but it was just too much. I've seen a lot of people who like Mahomes say this left a really bad taste in their mouths. MNF doubleheader this late in the season and the games are on at the same time, dumb |

But BUF is now an even bigger fav up to -2.5. Theyre experimenting with MNF start times. Thats why they did 7.15p/8.15p earlier in the season. Problem with 7.05p/10.20p is 7 is too early for west coast tv & 10 ends too late for east coast tv. |

Bummer is if he wouldve won last nite theres only 13 people left & they are talking about doing a chop. They would split $6m so that guarantees they get $460k each. Then they would play winner take all for the other $3.267m. Everyone that plays in this says this is the best sports contest ever. Saw this.... @bykevinclark "Every other sport is absolutely desperate to generate stars and the NFL is like "The Giants have an Italian guy" and it's a national story. I love this sport. I love this country." ![]() Its funny cause its true. Last edited by dcowboy7; 12-12-2023 at 12:53 PM. |

Montana's 1989 MVP season he had Rice, Taylor, Craig, Jones, a great OL and Holmgren calling plays in the Walsh offense he had already spent a decade running. Young's 1992 and 1994 MVP seasons he had Rice, Taylor, Watters, Jones, a great OL and Mike Shanahan calling plays. Peyton's MVP seasons he had Harrison, Wayne, James, Clark, Dungy/Moore as HC/OC. I get that Purdy is a much better player than anyone expected so everyone is waiting for him to turn into a pumpkin, but so was Warner. It happens. He's playing the position at a real high level this year. Even in his three down games he had moments of success. He's more of an old school "field general" type QB in that he's not having to put the team on his back and carry them in those "pull it out of your ass" moments that are all the rage these days, but if you are usually playing so well to avoid those situations isn't that in many ways better? Dak is also having a great season, his best by far. So it wouldn't surprise me if he's MVP. He also has a Super Bowl winning HC calling plays for him, and some great positional talent that he benefits from, too. I don't see either QB's play as indicative of being carried by their coaches or supporting staff. They're both running their respective systems at a high level, and that's due to them playing at MVP level. |

Playing against a bunch of teams with losing records has also benefited Dak, but most people seem to ignore that. The next three games will be the deciding factor and how he performs will make or break his MVP season.
The fact that the 49ers have two legitimate MVP candidates is what will affect Purdy’s chance the most (CMC’s chances too, they’ll probably pull votes from each other), not because he has “so many weapons”. |

Dak had prime Ezekiel years, while Pollard isn't a superstar he's completely serviceable as an RB esp for a franchise that has always stressed the importance of the offensive line, foundation for everything they do on offense Quote:
Purdy currently 1st - passer rating 116.9 1st - yds per attempt 9.9 * (17th in attempts) 1st - completion pct 70.2 1st - qbr - 74.7 2nd - yds passing 3553 *on 359 passes - checkdown merchant lol 2nd (tie) TD passes 25 3rd - TD/INT ratio 3.6 but sure lets compare Jimmy's 5 game run with CMC to Purdy's 18 now ![]() Pre-CMC it was always noted that you could plug any RB - Mitchell, Wilson, Mostert, etc. - in the SF run game and they'd excel (added Deebo into the mix). Run game was always good, CMC made it great ![]() (if you are going to make this argument btw a better one would be that Brock is nothing without Trent, three game skid came when him and Deebo, missed those games. Also if Brock is so unimportant, CMC should've won the NFCC game on his own right?) As always, stats don't tell the whole story. There are intangibles and things you SEE watching every game. Jimmy didn't make the throws or right decisions that Brock has been doing. There was always a fear with Jimmy of holding onto the ball too long, taking a bad sack, getting injured, making the wrong throw, throwing a pick. So far I haven't even seen a glimpse of that with Brock (knock on wood). That said, even though he has a full season worth of games under his belt its way too early to put him in the elite category, though his numbers are great. But that's just the pessimist in me who is just waiting for the bottom to fall out. Part of me thinks the MVP talk is premature BUT if this was the year for him, Dak, Tyreek or McCaffrey to win it, this is the year with Brady retired, Rodgers out and Mahomes not lighting it up. |

Superbowl back to LA at SoFi Stadium in 2027.
Great sports venue and especially football venue. From what I've read it isn't a good concert venue, even though all of the big name artists doing stadium tours stop there. Los Angeles has a billion smaller general admission standing-room only concert venues and mid-size seated venues that are better. |
