Well, we are talking about the same GM who gave the Steelers a second-round pick for Chase Claypool, which was basically a first-rounder that Pittsburgh used to get a stud lockdown corner in Joey Porter Jr. If I were Ryan Poles, as soon as I saw that 412 number, I would have just left it ring.

Y'all only watched Fields highlights apparently. You didn't see the countless missed receivers, the constant holding onto the football for far too long, and the inability to process the field. He's just not the guy. Caleb Williams will be instantly better than Justin.

I'm not convinced Caleb Williams will be that great either. There are so many red flags about him that can't be ignored.

Not really. It's damning for Justin that guys like Drew Locke, Gardner Minshew, Sam Darnold, and Sam Howell were all chosen before Justin. Why? Because they are pocket passers first, runners second.

I know I'm just a Bears fan my entire life and watched nearly every game that Fields played, unlike some on here that clearly just run with talking points and never actually watched all his games, it was quite weak.

And there were three big reasons for it.

1. It's the final year on his rookie deal. If the Steelers like him and go forward with him, if Wilson still isn't back to form, they will have to either pay his 5th year option, some $25 million, or give him an extension/new deal, much like the Packers did with Jordan Love or the Giants did with Daniel Jones.

2. Every team in the league knew the Bears were moving on, as Poles just used Fields as he tore down the team and gave him bums for the rebuild.
If anyone didn't know the Bears were tanking in the 2022 season, then once again, they didn't watch the games. Why would any team give up the farm for a guy that the Bears were going to cut loose at some point. Caleb Williams is rumored to be a big diva, and the locker room loves Fields, so them being on the same team was never going to happen.

3. Per Poles, he wanted to do right by Fields, so he turned teams down that were to give more, rumored mostly to be the Eagles, so he could go to a team with no established starter and MAYBE win that starting job. Steelers showed interest in Fields before they got Wilson, but the Bears were asking too much earlier in the year.

I too don't see Caleb as the God many are making him out to be. Bears still didn't much fix their O-Line, all the WRs besides Moore are gone or the few left are garbage, and the RBs all lacked behind what Fields offered as a runner. Plus, he looked pretty weak against decent defenses. He won't face too many cupcakes like he did in college.

Too many people forget that Fields started running more in the NFL cause their line sucked, something they have never really fixed since the 2006 Superbowl year.

As a long time Bears fans, they will mess this up. They mess everything up. Look at how badly they're messing up getting a new stadium built!

thank you, that makes a lot more sense and is consistent with what I had been reading about him the past season. His running more was a result of OL and not so great coaching, play calling.
