They are slowing the game down and making the Officials the center of attention. And worse making these linemen who have enough problems trying to block these DL guys, literally without using their arms because of the constant holding calls they will get, to now worry about trying to unremembered everything they have been taught for 2 decades to appease some simp in the league offices who wanted to make this dumb rule change! Also great way to open up more hits on your couple handful of good QB's the league has, because linemen will be more worried about their head being aligned in the right position! |

It's not really a rule change. It's that they've let the tackles line up further and further back over the years and now they're trying to enforce the rule as it used to be back in the 90s. If you look at modern OL alignments the tackles are so far back that they are often the same depth as the WRs that are not counted as being on the line.
Now, this has happened as a slow creep over the last 20-25 years as tackles have tried to keep up with the talent that has increased far more quickly on defense at edge rusher. It's also why they let OTs false start by half a second across the league, as well as letting OL get away with blatant holding on passing plays that they don't let them get away with on running plays. |

Eerily quiet when there was a game tonight.
Mostly entertaining, glad to see Eagles win over GB. Jalen Hurts did not look great though, a lot of miscues and boneheaded decisions - doesn't help that there's work to be done between himself and his center. Bummed that my parlay didn't hit (thanks Josh Jacobs). Saquon looked great. |

Barkley going to be a monster for the Eagles if he can hold together. Even with Hurts having a subpar game and the mistakes they made they still won it. They will be in the championship game imo, depends on either the Lions or 49er's for the last spot imo.
Love looking like he is going to be out for a bit imo, his knee visible popping and his ankle getting caught underneath the defensive player is not a good combo. Won a 4 leg though last night and those layup barstool bets on DK have been nice. ![]() |

it ended up being a fun game but neither team looked particularly impressive. I get it's only the first game of the season but within the past week I have heard a lot talking heads saying Philly will be back at the top of the conference and I am not buying it, Hurts had some good plays but like Biz said there were more miscues and bad decisions. Right now, I think he is far from a bad QB but certainly the hype since the SB run season has died down.

Yeah both teams didn't look great, but let's not forget about the field conditions affecting players on both teams. And I know everyone loves to hate on the Packers, but the take away I get from this is despite all their idiotic penalties on both sides of the ball (71 yards worth), they still put up 29 points. I feel like this game was one less field slip or two away from going the other direction, or either team running away with it completely.

Not a great start for the new kickoff rules, which were supposed to encourage returns (and safety).
BAL/KC: 11 kickoffs; 9 touchbacks, 2 returns (neither making it back to the 35) GB/PHI: 13 kickoffs; 10 touchbacks, 3 returns (20 yd avg) Only two games in, but return rate is down from ‘23. I guess the safety aspect is working, can’t get hurt if you don’t return it…. ![]() |
