The Washington Post confirms a report that the Redskins will not release Albert Haynesworth, emphasizing that coach Mike Shanahan's stance hasn't changed since last season.
The Post also reveals that the Eagles, along with the Titans, showed interest in Haynesworth as far back as last offseason. The Redskins turned down an offer of a late-round pick, holding out for at least a second-rounder. Shanahan may be willing to consider a lesser pick this time around, but he refuses to let Haynesworth "get his way" by releasing the disgruntled defensive tackle. Beat writer Mike Jones suggests Shanny would deal Haynesworth to a division rival "if the price was right."

Kerry Collins announced his retirement today. The Titans really need a veteran quarterback now with only second-year quarterback Rusty Smith and rookie Jake Locker under contract.

I doubt I'm the only one who thinks he will come back...in 2012. I think he takes a year off to relax and recharge a bit and then comes back rested, doubt he will be that good, though.

If you look at some of Kerry Collins stats you could say he's a borderline Hall of Fame player. He's 9th all time in completions and pass attempts, 11th in pass yardage, 29th in touchdown passes, 28th in interceptions, and led his team to a Super Bowl. However, his career record as a starter was only 84-100 and 3-4 in the playoffs so I'm sure he'll never get a serious look from the Hall of Fame voters.

Yeah not sure why some Cowboys fans want him, Jay Ratliff is one of the best 3-4 NTs in the game, Fat Al is one of the worst and will only get lazier, even with strict coaches like Ryan and Garrett.

I seriously think Snyder is one of Al Davis's long lost children, they both love to waste money on dead beat players

Vinny Testaverde says hold on a minute. He's 7th, 7th, 7th, 8th and 4th respectively though being higher on interceptions isn't a flattering stat.

In other news retired players filed an anti-trust complaint saying their voices were not heard at the bargaining table. They specifically complain about Drew Brees who said:

Is he wrong about some (for which he said some, not all) former players? No. Name me any other profession that renegotiates pensions anyway after you've signed the deal. I can't think of any.

I don't think fatty would play a 3-4 Nose anyway, but I could see Ryan or Johnson getting too him and making him put the chili dogs down.

The whole reason Haynesworth wants out of Washington is because he doesn't want to play in a 3-4 defense, so there's no chance of the Cowboys going after him. He's going to go somewhere that plays a 4-3 like the Redskins did when he signed there.

Regardless, the Cowboys aren't going to be very active in free agency. If the salary cap is around $120 million like expected then the Cowboys will be almost $20 million over the cap. They will have to cut Roy Williams for sure and potentially Terrance Newman and Marc Columbo and restructure some contracts, and their focus will need to be on re-signing Doug Free who will likely be an unrestricted free agent. I can't see them signing any notable free agents.

This definitely wouldn't be a bad thing. Roy and Colombo are terrible, and TNew, I think we still need but he is getting up there age wise. If we had a CB in waiting I wouldn't be mad about losing TNew but since we don't, they have to find a way to keep him.

The Giants have moved their training camp from the University of Albany to their team facility. They join the Jets and Bears in moving their training camps due to the lockout.

Scandrick is all right but I don't think he's ready. Roy IS terribad but his cap hit is like $12 million so the only way he leaves is if he re-structures first. Colombo has been a walking cap casualty since we drafted Tyron Smith.

If they have enough protection Scandrick can play above his head, but if he's asked to shoulder the weight of the DB's he simply can't deliver. So if other guys step up he could produce good numbers.

Forgot about Scandrick. Man this lockout is making me forgot my own players. Anyway Scandrick probably couldn't do it full time. I just have visions of that 1st game against the Giants where they were just abusing him. I really hope that guy improves his game. So far he has been less than impressive.
