Well, I'd rather see a guy like Brees breaking Marino's record. Everyone talks about how great a person is Tebow, but what about Brees? Great person, great ambassador for the NFL, already has a ring, etc...

Profootballtalk.com reports that Marques Colston will not take a hometown discount from the Saints when he's eligible for free agency in 2012.
Drew Brees will be getting the Saints' franchise tag, so Colston may be headed for the open market if New Orleans doesn't meet an asking price that sounds like it'll be lofty. Colston settled for a below-market extension from the Saints in 2008. He's on pace for his fifth 1,000-yard campaign in six seasons and figures to target a contract in the $10 million-per-year range.

There's no guarantee that Brees is going to keep the passing yards record. He's only 190 yards ahead of Tom Brady and Brady has a tougher, more important game next week which could force him to play the whole game. The Saints are pretty well locked into the #3 seed since it's unlikely the 49ers will lose to the Rams so if the 49ers are up 24-0 at halftime the Saints could have a decision, bench Brees and risk Brady taking the record or play Brees the entire game in an attempt to keep the record and risk injury? Both teams play at 1:00 Eastern time Sunday.

Brees could easily pass for 200 yards in half a game though anyway and most likely keep the record even if Brady plays the whole game.

only if our starters sit for more than a half!!

and i'd like to point out, if the packers do win, my prediction of the lions going 10-6 would be correct!!

(For example, I wasn't so thrilled when Favre passed Marino's 61,xxx career passing yards mark a few years back.)

Honestly, I'm shocked it took this long for the record to be broken. It was never one of those untouchables records (e.g., Dimaggio's 56-game hit streak). I'm sure Marino long knew it was inevitable given the current state of the NFL.

I really enjoyed what Payton said in the locker room after the game ("It's important to reflect on the history of the league, etc.") and what Brees said next ("I'd like to thank the equipment trainers who wipe down the balls... y'all know what I mean...")

The giants & falcons sure dont think paytons a class act for running up the score which he like to do.

No need for that,” one player told Prisco. “It came on our watch, but it didn’t have to come that way. We won’t forget it.”

Falcons coach Mike Smith said only positives about Brees after the game, but Prisco writes via team sources that Smith wasn’t happy with Peyton’s decision to go for it.

“That’s just who they are,” the Falcons player said. “We’ll see them down the road. We won’t forget any of it.”

I don't think it's as bad as it was when Brady was doing it in 2007, they were literally scoring in games up 2-3 scores with less than a minute left in games. I am glad that their decision to play Brady for that entire 35-34 win in week 17 against the Giants probably cost them the Super Bowl since I'm pretty sure that was the game Brady got injured in. If the Falcons don't like the Saints running up the score on them, they should stop them, same for the Giants.

Oh cry me a freaking river, these Falcons players need to stop Bi*ching , you dont get a chance at breaking records very often, and when that chance comes, take it! Saints fan or not, you have to just admire Drew Brees and what hes done in the past few years....

Brees is one of only two active QBs I would take over Tony Romo, the other is Aaron Rodgers, coincidentally those two are the last two Super Bowl winners.

They all have a job to do. They have fans paying a premium price to watch them live and fans watching on TV. What should they do? Giving the ball away? Throwing an interception on purpose?

Of course a player is gonna say that; the Falcons got absolutely lit up last night. But if Mike Smith is half the coach I think he is, then he met Sean Payton at half field at the end of the game and said "Congratulations and no hard feelings. You've got something really special there." Last night just wasn't the Falcons' night, and I hope that Smith recognized that.

I give us about a 40% chance to win if Romo's healthy, only a 10% chance if he's not. Hoping this is the last time I ever have to see Newman, Brooking or James in a Cowboys jersey, they're all useless or less than useless at this point.

I dont have a problem with it....im just posting what the teams say.

Normally teams just run up the middle every down....they arent in a shotgun every play up by 20+ with 3 minutes left.
