Mike Martz has moved on from the Bears, if we had a better offensive line I'd be open to him coming to Dallas.

Chargers owner Dean Spanos announced Tuesday that head coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith will be retained for the 2012 season.
"Bottom line, I believe these two men give us the best chance to get back to the playoffs," Spanos said. "A.J. Smith is the best man to improve our roster, and Norv Turner is the best man to lead that roster on the field." Turner's 52-34 record is the best by percentage (.605) in franchise history. He saved his job with a strong showing down the stretch one Philip Rivers gained protection up front. His return is good news for the fantasy value of the Chargers' offensive stars.

Last year's Fiesta Bowl was a garbage match up between Oklahoma and unranked UConn that everyone knew was going to be a blowout. It was also on a Saturday night which traditionally has lower TV ratings.

One teammate told the New York Daily News that he "doesn't see how" Santonio Holmes can come back to the Jets in 2012 after quitting on the team in Week 17.
Asked if that was the majority opinion in the locker room, the undisclosed veteran said, "Yes." One player called Holmes a "cancer," and several others maintain that he and Mark Sanchez are "not personally compatible." Holmes blew off a meeting with Sanchez after giving the QB a hard time the previous day. Per ESPN New York, when Holmes moped into the huddle last week, RT Wayne Hunter yelled, "If you don’t f------ want to play get your a-- the f--- out!" Coach Rex Ryan and GM Mike Tannenbaum suggested in separate radio interviews Tuesday that Holmes' attitude would have to be addressed.

To be fair I wouldn't want to play in that horrible passing game either.

I can't see Holmes not returning to the Jets. I can't see the team releasing him because his entire $7.75 million salary for 2012 is guaranteed. I can't see another team trading for him because if he is on the roster on the second day of the 2012 league year then $7.5 million of his 2013 salary becomes guaranteed and teams aren't going to risk $15.25 million on a player like Holmes. In addition if the Jets want to stay competitive they need Holmes. Plax is a free agent and is getting old. The Jets don't have a great running game. Even with a bad attitude Holmes is still the Jets best wide receiver and they would struggle even more if he left.

You read my mind. Last year the Fiesta Bowl was stuck with a sub-BCS quality team. UConn only made that game because they won the terrible Big East. I think they were 2 TD underdogs to Oklahoma and as expected they got rolled. Stanford-OK St. was a high quality matchup this year.

It's gonna come down to two things

Can Brady put up enough points on a good defense (yes)
Can Alex Smith score more points than Brady (probably not)

Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin is interviewing for the Chiefs head coaching job tonight. The Dolphins may also interview Philbin if they are unable to get Jeff Fisher. Philbin has been the Packers offensive coordinator since 2007, although Mike McCarthy has always called the offensive plays.

I don't know much about the Chiefs, but I think Romeo Crennel deserves the job based on the last 3 games. Ironic they're looking at the Packers OC when Crennel beat him.

mccarthy calls the plays in GB. he was out-coached that game.

I still can't believe Norv Turner wasn't fired. This guy has had a very talented, Super Bowl caibur team every year he's been in San Diego and yet he's missed the playoffs two straight years with a record of 17-15 in that span. He's been an aweful coach everywhere he's been - San Diego, Washington and Oakland. He couldn't even get San Diego into the playoffs this season in a terrible AFC West, where a 9-7 record would have won the division. Hell, Marty got fired after coaching the Chargers to a 14-2 season. People dump on Chargers fans a lot, but what's there to be excited about when ownership rewards mediocrity like Turner?
