In recent years that may be the case. But he had McNair, Eddie George and plenty of talent in his earlier years. His playoff record was 5-6, and in 17 years his teams made just two AFC title games, one of them on a miracle play. They were also a #1 AFC playoff seed 4 different years under him, only to fold in the playoffs time and time again. Like I said, decent coach, but certainly nothing special.

Judging by a few predictions I've seen in this thread, you guys really think Pittsburgh is gonna take Denver fairly easily this weekend? The more I think about this matchup, the more I like Denver's chances.
For one, Denver is hosting the game despite the 8-8 record. Not only does this give Denver the homefield crowd advantage (which I think could be crucial for Tebow who has looked skiddish the last couple weeks) but it also knocks the Steelers' leading tackler and free safety (Ryan Clark) out of the game because of his blood disorder. Then you've got strong safety Troy Polamalu missing practice time due to a calf injury. James Harrison is missing practice time due to a toe injury. Pro Bowl-caliber center Maurice Pouncey has been banged up for the last half of the season. Rashard Mendenhall is out indefinitely with a knee injury, so undrafted running back Isaac Redman (out of Bowie State) will be making his 2nd career start. Finally - and perhaps most importantly - Ben Roethlisberger has apparently sustained a "setback" during his recovery from a high ankle sprain a few weeks back. ESPN is reporting that he walked into the locker room yesterday after practice with more of a limp than he had a week ago; high ankle sprains are not easy injuries that you can just brush off. I expect this will mostly affect his ability to throw the ball downfield since he won't be able to complete his follow-through motion. In the 3ish games since the injury, Roethlisberger's QB rating is a 68 with one TD thrown and four interceptions. The Denver Broncos are not without injuries themselves (safety Brian Dawkins is not expected to play, Von Miller is trying to overcome a thumb injury), but the team with the NFL's best rushing attack and a pretty stout defense that has kept them in games all season long appears to have caught a break by hosting the banged up Steelers in this week's wild card round. I am hoping it will be a great game. I think I got: Saints over Lions, Saints will score at least 40 Giants over Falcons, Falcons will struggle on offense/putting points on the board Broncos over Steelers in a close, low-scoring, scrappy game Bengals over Texans, but honestly this is my least confident pick Last edited by wilky61; 01-05-2012 at 04:44 PM. |

Anyone been reading all the news for the Jets? They seem to be imploding placing blame everywhere, especially on Sanchez. I've said it since day 1, Sanchez is not a starting QB. He can't draw defenders off coverage at all, is not very mobile, doesn't have a strong arm, and makes poor decisions far too often.
Santonio Holmes seemed to quit on his team in their final game. After receiving the captain tag that already had a lot of his teammates upset about. They have to pay him something like 7 million regardless next year, and keeping him would be like a poison in the locker room. Looks to me like the Jets will be at the bottom looking up at everyone in the AFC East next year. Which means another year of Patriot playoffs. |

The only QB whose TD's I count (rushing) is Cam Newton. He's the best RB on that team, and pretty high in the league IMO. He's big and he can run people over. |
