Yeah, a lot of people think this move by the owners was genius because it turned the owners into heroes and if the players don't approve the deal they become villains even though the owners supposedly inserted things into the new CBA that the players hadn't agreed to, a claim the owners deny. I don't know what happens if the players don't approve the CBA before Tuesday. The first preseason games are supposed to be August 11 and I would think they would want training camp to fully start by August 1 or 2 if those games are going to be played.

Braylon Edwards pleaded guilty Friday to a DWI charge stemming from last September's arrest.
Edwards' attorneyy says the receiver is looking forward to free agency and wants to put negativity behind him. He will be subject to a $500 fine and six-month license suspension. More importantly, Edwards be entered into the NFL's substance abuse program. He was already under probation in Cleveland for his role in a 2009 fight outside a nightclub, so there could be an NFL suspension forthcoming.

One new rule change in the new CBA regards the third QB rule. Previously teams were allowed to dress three QBs but the third QB did not count towards the 45 player limit and if he played before the fourth quarter the first two QBs could not re-enter the game. This rule came into play last year in the NFC title game when Jay Cutler got hurt and Lovie Smith inserted Caleb Hanie into the game in the third quarter after backup Todd Collins struggled, meaning neither Cutler or Collins could play again. The new rule is that teams can dress 46 players and the third QB can play at any time. Teams do not have to use the extra roster spot on a quarterback and it's likely most teams will instead only dress two QBs.

Hopefully one of the new provisions in the CBA states that Brett Favre is not allowed to come out of retirement

I doubt Bret is coming out of retirement, he was worn out and played like crap for the Vikings last year, ugh, I am so glad he retired although I do miss his amazing year 2 years ago!

Monday will go to Wednesday, then Wednesday to Fri, and so forth. Perhaps the owners did pull a fast one on the NFLPA. However, the NFLPA and players need to get with the program. The owners have already conceded quite a bit to you. I'm pretty sure the owners can live without revenue from this season. Can you live without your paycheck?

And btw, Vincent Jackson is a tool.

Both FOX's Jay Glazer and the Washington Post's Mark Maske are reporting that a new labor deal is essentially done.
Barring any unexpected, unforeseen, last-second surprises, the champagne is expected to officially pop sometime this afternoon. According to Maske, teams could begin signing rookies and talking to free agents Tuesday before full free agency opens Friday at 6 p.m. ET. Training camps would begin opening Wednesday and continue through the weekend. Nothing is official until the players ratify the deal, but we're at the 1-inch line right now.

Apparently teams can begin signing their own free agents and talking to unrestricted free agents this afternoon. They can sign unrestricted free agents tomorrow, but those transactions won't be official until the league year starts August 2. Teams can make trades starting this afternoon, but they won't become official until July 30. 10 teams will report to camp Wednesday, 10 more on Thursday, 10 more on Friday, and the Jets and Texans on Saturday. This should be the busiest week in NFL history as signings and trades will be happening at a rapid-fire pace.

There appears to be a lot of question about when unrestricted free agents can sign with new teams. Jay Glazer just said on the Dan Patrick Show that he's hearing unrestricted free agents can't sign until Friday, but that a date hasn't been finalized yet.

Albert Breer -
"Filed to NFL Network: there will be no opt-out in the 10-year deal, after much haggling over it."

That is sweet - a true 10 year deal.

Also the new tv deals in 2 years will be bigger $$ cause they know it will be a peaceful decade.

What I would be most interested in if the Vikings will re-sign Sidney Rice, he only had 1 good year and has injury concerns and I am not sure if I want to see Sidney leave or re-sign Sidney....

It was reported over the weekend that Terrelle Pryor might not be eligible for the supplemental draft. The NFL is apparently trying to figure out if Pryor would have been eligible at Ohio State this season, and if they determine he would have been he likely won't be eligible for the supplemental draft. Ohio State officials say Pryor would not have been eligible, but the NFL will likely wait for the NCAA to say whether Pryor would have been eligible before deciding whether Pryor will be in the supplemental draft.
