Exactly I thought he'd be Jamarcus Russell Jr. especially after that ESPN video that followed him through workouts pre-draft he was acting SOOOO lazy.

Peyton Manning: Irsay, not Grigson, will decide his future with Colts

Quote:
"I never thought 'Sodapop Curtis' would announce my retirement," Manning said, laughing, referring to Lowe’s character in the 1983 movie "The Outsiders." "I always thought I would be the one to announce it. I'm a huge fan of the movie, but that caught me way off guard. I can't explain it. I know he (Lowe) is a friend of Jim's (Irsay), and Jim sounded surprised."

So no, Manning isn't on the cusp of retirement. In a wide-ranging, exclusive interview with The Star on Monday night, the Colts' future Hall of Fame quarterback addressed a number of pressing topics, including his health, his sadness over the firings of several coaches, his minimal relationship with new general manager Ryan Grigson and the future.
Quote:
"I don't want to get into some kind of fan campaign with the owner, but I think it's well documented that I want to play in the same place my whole career," Manning said. "It's been a privilege to play here. I love the fans, the city, the transformation of the fans, how our place has become the toughest stadium to play in, the fact our fans wear more jerseys to games than anybody else. It's been fun to be a part of that.

"But I understand how it works. I understand tough decisions have to be made. There's personal and there's business and that's where we’ve got to separate the two. I've seen other guys leave places and it was personal. I've invested too much into this city for that to happen. We live here, we've given lots of time and money to the community and our church, and that's never going to change Nothing changes that.

"Whatever happens, happens. I can't give you a prediction because Jim (Irsay) and I will sit down at some point and he'll get a feel for where I am and I’ll get a sense of what direction he wants to go. Right now, I have no idea."

Manning's better...Favre also threw the most picks in NFL history. His onfield stupidity is legendary.

Favre is probably the better "talent", but as far as Qb skills and ability to run the position, I'd say Manning has him crushed.

Favre had a stronger arm and better mobility.

Manning read defenses better, had a more accurate arm and is smarter. His overall knowledge of the game (all positions) is probably better than most coaches, and definitely better than all QB's. His preparation for games is also unmatched.

And yet Manning's TD:Int ratio is worse than Favre's. Significantly worse. (Manning 185:129 = 1.43, Favre 508:336 = 1.51)

I don't know why Manning gets a free pass on his abysmal turnovers in a way that no other player I can think of does.

Because Manning rarely made bonehead decisions during crucial parts of the game, the way Favre often did. Most recent case in point...NFC Title game pick in 2010 against the Saints, destroying the Vikes chance to kick a FG for the tie at the end of the game.

Over their careers Manning threw a pick 2.7% of the time he passed and Favre 3.3% of the time he passed.

Cam Newton turning into a great player still isn't written in stone. Vince Young was Rookie of the Year his first season with Tennessee. Then it was all downhill from there.

Both should have won more than one ring, but IMO Peyton has had a much better career. It was often his teammates who lost Peyton big games, with Favre it was usually his own horrible decisions late in games.

Hold on everybody.

Benny had the original ? here: Did you mean Peyton or Eli? It looks to me like filmnut, Chad, and super6 meant Peyton, while Terjyn's citation was clearly an Eli stat.

Yeah, Peyton's touchdown:interception ratio is much better than Favre's at 399:198, or slightly better than 2:1. I think Benny's question was talking about Peyton since the prior post was a story about Peyton and nobody has ever talked about Eli having great numbers.

Peyton only put up 16, 17, 0, 14, 3, 18, 24, 17, 17, and 17 points in his playoff losses. You can blame his defense all you want but that's not getting it done in January.

No, Manning's stats are 125:173 or .7225:1.

no, i was asking about favre.

not that i'm a fan of his anymore, but it's just interesting to have 2 QB's that did so much and only end up w/1 ring each.

How many afc championship games did peyton make it to??

Favre made it to 4 I think….3 w/the packers and 1 w/the Vikings.

I don’t really care about eli right now…b/c technically he’s pretty much even w/favre and his brother @ this point by making it to a 2nd super bowl and could be on the same level if he loses this one.

no that's ridiculous, Eli isn't half as successful as Peyton or Favre

Eli? 185 TD's
Peyton 399
Favre 508

Eli has no regular season MVP and he's barely a pro bowler (he stole one this year from Stafford) Stafford had 41 TD and Manning only 29 and of those 29 TD's, like 10 of them he threw it 20 yards and Victor Cruz went 60 Victor Cruz is the MVP of that team

But he plays in NY so he'll get way more credit than he deserves

they talked about this after favre retired....the 1st time .....people look @ super bowls when they talk about the "greatness" of a QB.

it doesn't matter how many u went to....it's how many u won.
