I really hope you're joking. If Super Bowl wins trumped actual numbers you could say Dilfer or Brad Johnson > Marino, which is nonsense. Eli isn't even close to being in Peyton or Favre's league.

I was talking about Peyton. Good point Musu.

No offense Benny, I know you're a Packer Backer. Favre will still go into the Hall, and do so as one of the toughest gamers to ever play.

Well you could also say Terry Bradshaw was as good as Joe Montana but even Squealers fans wouldn't make that argument. Numbers-wise (regular season) Eli is not as good as his brother but
Peyton 9-8 post-season record
Eli 7-3 post-season record(all-time record for road play-off wins)
I will say that proves that giving a QB too much credit for winning is a mistake but those numbers don't lie.

I’m not the one that said it….it was said by almost everyone on espn, in sports illustrated, and on foxsports.com (really the only website I read any sports news on).

It was debated @ some length on espn about where favre falls in when ranking the all time qb’s and everyone said the 1 super bowl win will be his down fall when u compare him to Montana, Young, Bradshaw, etc.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, I just think it’s interesting that a Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer can say that they won the same # of super bowls as manning and favre.

It sure beats the hell out of talking about tebow!!

Yep, those are Redskins type point totals.

I mean your right, but when I've head Dilfer talk on espn he never acts like he was the best qb or one of the best. So thats more a fan debate topic

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson were good bus drivers. Favre is a gun slinger, as is Eli. Peyton is a HOF QB that has put up insane numbers but never had much post-season success. I'd say a big reason why Eli wins so much in the post-season is he tends to have a solid running game and a very good defense, not all QBs are lucky enough to have both. He also has one of the best receiving corps in the league this year, just another reason he's headed to Indy for that 68000 capacity Super Bowl.

Here's some more numbers that don't lie.

Pro Bowls:
Peyton 11x
Eli 2x (only twice? practically every starting QB makes the Pro Bowl nowadays)

MVP:
Peyton 4x
Eli - Zero

All Pro 1st Team:
Peyton - 5x
Eli - Zero

All Pro 2nd Team:
Peyton 3x
Eli - Zero

Conf Player of the Year:
Peyton 6x (And he's in Brady's conference)
Eli - Zero

In Super Bowl wins and conf titles the two are tied. How a player can be seriously considered HOF worthy if they have 2 Pro-Bowl selections and zero 1st or 2nd team All-Pro selections is truely bizarre.

Eli is like a lesser Terry Bradshaw, propelled to greatness by great defenses and miracles. Immaculate reception and helmet catch.

Can't really argue against any of those numbers except Pro Bowl, never taken that seriously, especially when stuff like Eli going over a guy that threw for over 5000 yards and 41 touchdowns happens. Not to mention I know how good Vernon Davis and Jimmy Graham are but Jason Witten still should've gone, he's probably the most complete tight end in the game.

Heh, and the only thing Carr will be remembered for is holding the record for most times sacked in a season.

I wonder, is Alex Smith more of a bust than David Carr or not? I'd say it's pretty close, even with Smith "leading" the 49ers to the NFC Championship game this year.

It's definately Carr who was the biggest bust. At least Smith has had a few servicable seasons. Carr stunk from day one to present.

One massive bust who gets overlooked was Tim Couch. I remember watching him in college and thinking he was can't miss NFL star QB. He lasted 5 dreadful years in Cleveland before leaving the game. Couch wasn't JaMarcus Russell/Ryan Leaf bad, but he wasn't THAT much better. Only thing he ever succeeded at was marriage.

I'm sure Filmnut or Betaman can tell you all about Tim Couch.

Bradshaw did fumble, they called forward progress way too early. If it was the other way around, the Giants would have like 5 seconds to hold him up and strip the ball. The league wants viewers, so they favor the Packers and now the Giants.

Alex Smith =/ ratings

Brady vs Manning II = ratings

Yeah Bradshaw fumbled, still don't agree with that call at all but it is what it is, also why I say sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

There's a decent gap. Even when Carr completed a league leading 68.3% of his passes, he still had an 11-12 TD-INT ratio. The Carr story is a strange one. After getting sacked 76 times in his rookie year, that number went down to just 15 in 11 starts. He followed that up with getting sacked 49, 68 and 41 in his next three years respectively.

The real comparison for Carr is Tim Couch. Both #1 overall expansion draft picks who got sacked a ton and did little else.

The San Francisco Chronicle confirms Broncos DC Dennis Allen as the leading candidate for the Raiders head coaching vacancy, adding that Allen is already negotiating with the team.
We've seen whispers that Winston Moss had a disappointing interview, but CSN Bay Area reports the Packers LB coach remains in the mix along with a third "mystery candidate." Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg and Saints OC Pete Carmichael have been informed that they are no longer being considered for the job. It appears that the job will go to Allen as long as he agrees to terms by the weekend.
