So we lose Chuck (amazing) and keep Cameron (inept). I mean how hard can it be to run Ray Rice 20+ times a game?

With Ray Lewis on the decline (still a great LB), Ed Reed always considering retirement, and a lot of players heading into free agency it looks like my Ravens will be in for some stormy seas.

Screw you Cam Cameron.

No, he hasn't been hired anywhere yet, and I haven't read any reports that he's interviewed for the Broncos job. He's been linked to it because of his past relationship with John Fox but I haven't seen anything more than speculation linking him to the job. There's also been talk of him ending up in Baltimore as he used to be an assistant there but it sounds more likely they'll look in-house for a replacement. It's also possible Del Rio doesn't coach this year because he'd essentially be coaching for free because any money he makes would offset his Jaguars buyout.

& the bucs are at the giants next year too.

Its kinda like how so many times when a player or coach goes to a new team they wind up playing each other the next season.

Numerous sites are reporting that Greg Schiano to the Buccaneers is a done deal. He has reportedly signed a five-year deal with the Bucs.

Vikings open to trade talks for No. 3 overall pick

Quote:
Well, now. Here’s something Vikings fans maybe didn’t think about before: their team trading the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

“It will be, I think, very busy on draft day,” Spielman said in an interview on the NFL Network set. “We’re the third overall pick, so we’ll be looking at all the options. If someone wants to come up and get our pick, we’re going to be more than willing to listen.”

Based on conversations with Matt Flynn "in the last few days," Aaron Rodgers believes the Dolphins and Seahawks are the "two top dogs" in the race for the free agent QB.
"I think it's a strong possibility that [the Dolphins] would make a run at him," Rodgers said. "Joe [Philbin] in that system, which I’m sure is going to be very similar to this system, and Matt having a great grasp of that and playing well in his recent opportunities." Seahawks GM John Schneider, formerly with the Packers, is "pulling some strings" to bring Flynn to Seattle, according to Rodgers.
Good. I'd rather see the Dolphins taking a chance with a FA than trading up for RGIII. It's one thing to waste your own #2 pick on a guy like Ronnie Brown, it's another to jeopardize your future to draft just the 2nd best QB available.

Thats what I'd do you take Flynn and lets say you pick up a good lineman who can play for 10 years and Flynn busts out after two you've still picked up a good player. Where as if RG3 burns out you've wasted at LEAST 3 years depending on how bad he is.

Yeah, we need some help on the O-line. Marc Colombo sucks and he won't be back.

Maybe we should trade up to pick Kalil...

Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced today that Cam Cameron will return as offensive coordinator next year, and that Dean Pees will become the defensive coordinator. Pees has been the Ravens linebackers coach the last 2 years and was the defensive coordinator for the Patriots from 2006-2009.

I know some Ravens fans are down on Cameron, but I do appreciate it when an NFL organization is able to maintain some continuity in-house from year to year.

In the same vein, the Dolphins are about to hire Mike Sherman and Kevin Coyle as offensive and defensive coordinators respectively.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/01/2...e-sherman.html

Quote:
Former NFL head coach Mike Sherman and Cincinnati defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle – who possess a combined 69 years of experience – are poised to be named the Dolphins’ offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively, barring any unexpected last-minute issues, multiple sources said.

Philbin has longstanding relationships with both men. Not only did Sherman hire Philbin for his first NFL job (with Green Bay in 2003), but he also was Philbin’s former English teacher.

Coyle has known Philbin for years and reportedly attended the funeral for Philbin’s son, Michael, who drowned Jan. 8.

Don't forget about Riley Reiff, I think in the long run he has the potential to have the better NFL career. Mike Mayock has him as his #1 offensive tackle, and thinks he might be the biggest riser between now and draft day. I personally am hoping Buffalo considers trading up to get him because there is very little chance that he is still there at #10.

Really? He would be a good pick at #8 or 9 then.

I saw on NFL.com that David DeCastro is also a potential pick for the Dolphins. We need both a guard and a tackle anyway. Too bad we can't afford Carl Nicks.

Meh I'd settle for Ben Grubbs really, almost as good as Nicks and will probably come for 20-30% less too. DeCastro is solid but they're saying not as NFL ready as Smith was so he may not be worth it in the 1st round.

I just don't think a guard is worth a top 10 pick. It's pretty easy to find a guard later in the draft. Look at this year's Pro Bowl guards. In the AFC Logan Mankins was the 32nd pick, Brian Waters was undrafted, Marshall Yanda was a third round pick, Brandon Moore was undrafted, and Ben Grubbs was the 29th pick. In the NFC Jahri Evans was a fourth round pick, Carl Nicks was a fifth round pick, and Davin Joseph was the 23rd pick.

Browns hired ex-Vikings head coach Brad Childress as offensive coordinator.
Childress is a surface fit in Cleveland because of his West Coast offense background, but there's a lot to not like about this hire. Out of the league since his in-season firing in 2010, Childress' Vikings offenses from 2006 through 2010 ranked 23rd, 13th, 17th, fifth (Brett Favre year), and 23rd in terms of yards. In points, they were 26th, 15th, 12th, second (Favre), and 29th. Toward the end of Childress' Minnesota tenure, there was a feeling that the game had passed him by. Talent remains the roadblock standing in the way of Cleveland's offensive advancement. They need a new quarterback.
