Your right. My bad. NFL contracts are so badly structured though. I mean what athletes actually expect or earn the full value of their contracts aside from a few franchise QB's?

I can't help but wonder. How many HOF caliber players do you think there are who never get the opportunity to play in the NFL? I mean if Trent Green and Drew Bledsoe don't go down with major injuries there's a good chance Tom Brady and Kurt Warner never start a single game in the NFL. It's not like Bill Belichick had any clue Brady would be good, or else he would have played him before Bledsoe's injury. And without the Bledsoe injury there's a good chance Bill Belichick ends up being "just another coach." Belichick has an awful 41-55 record as a head coach until Tom Brady came along. Doubt he ever would have been a HOF level coach without Tom Brady as QB.

I'll bet there are quite a few HOF caliber players over the years who we'll never know about simply because they didn't get lucky like Brady or Warner.

Thats why I always want them to throw guys like Colt Brennan in and just see what he can do. Once you've been eliminated from the playoffs why not see what you have

LOL... I love how in that video they make it like some epic sports record is about to be broken when it's just some guy pumping iron. But that's how big the NFL is. Even the NFL combine draws big viewers.

The agent for Joe Flacco is targeting top-five quarterback money in long-term extension talks with the Ravens.
Flacco isn't a top-five quarterback and probably isn't even top-ten, so this could drag things out for Baltimore. "If the game is about wins and losses, he has to be in the top five," said agent Joe Linta. "... And he’s done something that no one has ever done. In his four years in the league, he has never missed a game and has more wins than any other quarterback."

I'd give him bonuses and conditional money, which would put him on par with the top5 qb's, but not top 5 guaranteed money.

I still think he's worth at least another 2-3 years to really evaluate he's proven enough, and has had enough success that he deserves that (IMOP)

He is a good QB, I'll admit that. But there is no way he is top 5 QB money. Maybe if they put escalators for Super Bowl wins then they can pay him top 5 that way. I'd have no problem giving him the money if he gets some rings. But with Cam Cameron I just don't see it happening.

Regardless he still isn't the reason for that 44-20 record.

Super Bowl wins, Championship game wins, pro bowls, completion percentages, yards, and touchdowns all that is fair game they can even give him kicking bonuses.

I wouldn't have a problem if the above payouts equaled say 40-50 million and he had 15-20 guaranteed.

You go to love agents deluding their clients into thinking they're something they're not.

Flacco had a good regular season and solid playoffs. Big deal. How can you get top 5 money if your not a pro bowl, alternate or even QB flu epidemic alternate?

Right now he's outside the top ten for quarterbacks.

Flacco is going to get a lot more than $15-$20 million guaranteed. Ryan Fitzpatrick got $24 million guaranteed and Kevin Kolb got $21 mlllion guaranteed (although both could be less if they got cut). My guess is Flacco will get a seven-year deal worth up to $90 million with at least $30 million guaranteed.

Flacco would rather have that agent than one who undersells him, though. It's just run-of-the-mill negotiations. Both sides beef up their positions to appear better than they are, while at the same time slamming their opponent to make them think they're worse off than they are.

They'll likely meet in the middle.

My buddy is in the midst of dealing with, among 'better' (my word) clients, the whole Matt Flynn thing. No doubt he'll try to make Flynn appear like the best QB in the history of the world. If he does anything less, he needs to get a different job.

I don't fault them for trying, I only fault them when they pull a TO or Sprewell.

No normal person would say to a promotion or job offer "well I'm not worth that much, but close."

That's not the same. Nobody would ever say no thanks if offered. This is I demand to be paid this much scenario.

On 60 minutes they showed Drew Rosenhaus talking like an idiot and getting these large contracts for his clients. Are GM's that weak?

But 30 million guaranteed does seem about right. There was the McNabb 23 million guaranteed Redskins fiasco which he signed while struggling.
