SI.com's Peter King is "hearing" free agent Ray Rice "wants an Adrian Peterson-type of contract."
Peterson, of course, signed a seven-year, $100 million deal last September that will pay him $40 million in the first three years. Quite unsurprisingly, King "(doesn't see)" the Ravens doing that for Rice. King believes the Ravens "really want" Rice back, but that they can't afford to "go nuts on him." The odds are high Rice will be franchise tagged before the March 5 deadline.

I love Ray Rice at RB, but he isn't AP (in his prime). He is a dual threat and gets a ton of yards but he isn't as explosive as AP before the knee injury. If they did sign him I'd want that contract to be HEAVILY backloaded so he doesn't just go down or crap out.

I would be afraid to commit to him long term with a lot of money because of all the touches he gets. I say franchise him like expected and see where they are a year from now. Rice has been saying he is fine with playing under the franchise tag, so there won't be a holdout or any other issues that some players have.

If Manning is out of the picture, I think the Dolphins go with Matt Flynn. The fact is Flynn will come with a starter's price tag and not a lot of certainty. But he comes with more certainty than any possible draft pick not named Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III. Flynn in free agency seems to be more logical, given his history and connection to Joe Philbin, than say, using a first-round pick on Ryan Tannehill. Flynn is young and more experienced and probably more NFL starter ready than Tannehill. And if you pick up Flynn, you can free up use of the first-round pick for another major need while still having the option of drafting another QB -- perhaps Brandon Weeden -- later in the draft.

There is talk that Weeden could go late in the first round and virtually every mock draft has him going in the second round at worst. If they sign Flynn there is no way they would use what would have to be a fairly high pick to get Weeden and that's not happening. I don't disagree with the stories idea of signing Flynn and picking a quarterback later, it just isn't going to be Weeden.

I've heard that Flynn's value could drop a lot if the Dolphins don't go after him because Dolphins coach Joe Philbin knows Flynn's skills from his time with the Packers and if a QB needy team like the Dolphins doesn't want Flynn that will be a major red flag to the rest of the league.

Yeah, I'd like to know how hard Philbin is pushing for Flynn since Manning is Ross' guy. I guess we'll never know if Miami signs Manning. And if it's true that Manning would agree to sign a contract with some incentives and is willing to play in Miami, I would really love seeing him in Aqua and Orange. And then wait for next year to draft a QB.

If the Dolphins can't land either Manning or Flynn, I hope they trade down or trade up from the 2nd round to draft that Weeden guy. I don't want them to waste the #8/9 overall pick on a project like Tannehill just because he has some connections with Mike Sherman.

I know basically everyone thinks he's done, but you really only have two options; trade up for RG3, or trade down for valuable supporting cast (WR/TE) and then get a QB next year. While letting Mcnabb steer the ship so the rookies can get adjusted.

McNabb? No thanks. We would be better off starting the season with Matt Moore. Moore had a decent season, he finished 12th with a QB rating of 87.1, he's just not the long term solution, nor is Manning but Peyton is Peyton and he makes everyone around him better.

We don't know if Matt moore is the long term solution because he hasn't played enough games. He played well once he got settled in and he should at least to compete for the starting job.

Matt Moore is not the long term solution, otherwise the Dolphins would not be in a "desperately seeking a QB" mode right now.

Next to Favre (who lost an Oline, was 40+, hurt, and didn't have his WR's), I've never seen a QB fall the way McNabb did.
