Redskins assigned the franchise tag to TE Fred Davis.
One of the likelier franchise players to play the 2012 season under his one-year tag, Davis set career highs in receptions (59) and yards (796) last year while scoring three touchdowns despite missing the final four games due to a suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Davis, 26, will be eligible to play all 16 games in 2012. While the Redskins may upgrade their wide receiver corps this offseason, Davis will remain a top-eight tight end target in fantasy leagues. He often plays in the slot and out wide, and is one of the top pass catchers at his position in the NFL.

Favre apparently joined Twitter. It's not verified yet so I wouldn't consider anything on it to be official.

Calais Campbell got franchised as expected, one less very good defensive end for us to pursue in free agency.

Cowboys fan hoping we snag Dre-Kirpatrick or a solid pass rusher in the NFL Draft. I'll take an offensive lineman as well.

Lets go Big D!

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are in danger of NFL discipline after maintaining a "bounty program" to take opposing offensive players out of games under former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
Per Schefter, the NFL's investigation began in 2010, when Williams' defense began targeting Brett Favre and Kurt Warner. Between 22 and 27 Saints defenders were allegedly involved, as well as at least one defensive assistant. The league has reportedly reviewed 18,000 documents totaling more than 50,000 pages. New Orleans' discipline may lead to fines, suspensions, and draft-pick forfeiture. Williams is now defensive coordinator for the Rams.

I want a defensive tackle mostly in the first round but it doesn't sound like the Cowboys think there will be one worth taking at 14.

It's an incredibly weak defensive tackle draft. After an amazing combine Dontari Poe looks like he could be a top-10 pick but I wouldn't draft him that high considering he was only C-USA Second Team All-Conference and opposing coaches said he took a lot of plays off. He strikes me as a player that could be a workout warrior like Vernon Gholston. Other than Poe there probably won't be a defensive tackle drafted in the top 20.

Just think a better guy at the nose could make our entire defense better. Would boost our run defense and make it harder for QBs to step up to get away from our outside rushers. We obviously need help in the secondary too but a better down 3 would make even our shoddy secondary better.

Maybe thats why Brees wants more $$ now so he can get back all that bounty $$ he helped pay out.

I maybe missed 6 games of his entire career, he's not only a baller, but a very hard worker. Kirpatrick in Dallas = bad

Well the bounty program seemed to work in 09... What the hell has been going on the past two years? hahahaha

And it looks like Gregg Williams left at the perfect time. I'm sure there's a good chance he was the one who started this all, but the organization will get most of the hate and blame.

I really don't get the big deal. This happens in many sports at all levels. The football coach at my HS paid players to injure other players. My youth league basketball coach once paid me a $50 bounty for putting down the star player on a team we were playing. It was known as a "first blood" bounty. I got him with a nasty elbow to the face that drew blood. This stuff probably goes on with every NFL team. I'm surprised this made news to be honest.

Because they got caught. Much like the Patriots getting busted for spying on the Jets, all teams do it but just don't get caught!
