Funny ESPN comments regarding the RG3 deal...

Dude WTF? How in the heck did they pass Dallas? By trading away their franchise to acquire RG3? I mean I love RG3 but damn they wont be able to get any help for him. They gave up way to much. Trust me we will be better than the Redskins next year. Got Em!!

And the crazy thing is with the #6 overall pick there's a decent chance Justin Blackmon is still there, filling the Rams WR needs.

They will undoubtedly get him, there are players that fill needs way better for teams 3-5. I just can't believe that the Redskins traded away so much just to get RG3. Unless they get some receivers (and good ones at that) in round 2 and 3 then this is the dumbest move I've ever seen.

One of the reasons Washington did so poorly was that not only was their QB play lousy, but they have no one to throw to outside Fred Davis. I highly doubt they could afford in cap space to get a prime time WR like V-Jax, and they have barely any picks to try and trade for someone.

Now they give away the kingdom for a king with no subjects to rule over.

(EDIT: To clarify, I believe in RG3. I think given equal circumstances he could be better than Luck. But in Washington, with no talent around him and no way to get more he will have a rough time of it. At least he's only stuck for 4 years )

Edit again: Rams gonna have a good few years ahead of them now. Get some O-line help to keep Bradford upright and fill some defense holes and they could go back to the top of that division.

Well I mean long-term, not just this year, the Baylor kid is much younger than Romo and the Redskins were actually pretty competitive in our division even with much lesser QBs than Griffin III. If we make a few nice moves and draft well, I think we will either win the division next year or at least get a wild card. As far as the future goes, I'd say it looks a lot brighter for the Redskins than it does for us right now. Obviously they gave up too much for RGIII but that doesn't change the fact that he should be a beast in the NFL for a long time to come.

Just to see how Skins fans were taking this news I decided to check out the biggest fan forum website for the team and I was floored. Literally 95%+ of the comments are overjoyed about this trade. Most of them seem to be under the delusion that four top-tier draft picks is a mall price to pay for that #2 pick and that the Skins can somehow make up for the loss of all those picks through free agency. I'm sorry but that's not how championship teams and dynasties are put together in the NFL. This isn't like MLB or the NBA where great players are easily available via free agency and/or blockbuster trades. This trade is one of the bigger gambles I've ever seen by an NFL team. I actually thought it was a late april fools day joke when I first read the terms.

From the Rams perspective this is a stroke of genius. If Bradford can stay healthy they already have a very solid starting QB and a fairly decent core of young players. And if Blackmon is there at #6 they have one of the better WR prospects to come along in years. And now they two first round picks for the next two years. I'm sure Jeff Fisher is loving his choice of coaching jobs right now.

NFL suspended Broncos WLB D.J. Williams six games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Broncos DT Ryan McBean was suspended for the same amount of time and same offense. Williams, who turns 30 in July, has also been arrested twice for DUI during his NFL career, so he's on the league's radar for discipline. Williams recently tested positive for PEDs, per the Denver Post. He racked up 90 tackles, three forced fumbles, and five sacks in 13 starts last season. Depending on Denver's bye, Williams will be eligible to return in either Week 7 or Week 8 of the 2012 regular season.

Supersix, I pray this works out for your team, I know how it feels being in the NFL shit hole for so long....
I'm not sold on RGIII for that price 1 sixth I'd have said it may be worth the shot, but at least he'll be able to run away.

lol and at least we'll be in the crazy trade club together , you'll just have the better all around team.

Good god... if RG3 can land a team four top-tier draft picks what would the Luck pick be worth, like 5 first-round and 3 second-round picks?
lol really, had Manning come back at the end of the season and been ok, I bet that deal gets Luck in a heartbeat.

Worst part is scrolling across my screen now

"Rams will also get additional compensation"

lol Shanahan is going all in for his son, if this works out, he'll be guaranteed the head coaching job, if he's bust in a year or 2 they're all gone.

Also if it doesn't work they've basically wasted Orakpo and Williams, as they will be at the end of their prime (I think Orakpo will be in year 7 and Williams in 6) and thats if they give up quickly.

Yeah you get a ton of homers on there I got in a fight and almost got kicked off because I took on the doofy who does the TV show and radio games on their.

As much as I love some of them, its full of delusion, and when you really break it down slowly for most they all seem to get it or at least acknowledge it.

Most of them just assume well they must know he's good for that price! Kinda like when the brokers said hold in the 08 slide "well my broker drives an S600 he must know what he's talking about".... nope

His stats vs. ranked teams throughout his career is very troubling, and we've basically gambled five years to even begin to rebuild, on 2011 baylor stats (which still included butt whippings by A&M and OSU), doesn't exactly inspire confidence in me.

The Rams got 2 1st round and 1 2nd round pick

They swap first round picks with the Skins remember? so it's really 2 1st round picks, not 3

Regardless of two or three first round picks, the Skins still way overpaid for this. Great day to be a Rams fan really. I'd love to see this blow up in their face and RG3 become the next Akili Smith.

That's possible, but the Browns are sure to give him a hard look at #4. The thing about the RGIII trade is that if he becomes a HOF caliber QB it was worth it, but what if he ends up being just a solid starter? Or worse? This is a huge risk for Washington, and I hope it works out for them. But talk about an all in bet.

I really think the Browns need to draft something more useful than a WR this year. Who's going to throw to him? The "legend" Colt McCoy?

They really need to decide if they want to be an offensive team or defensive team. Being middle (or worse) of the pack on both sides of the ball is a terrible plan.

Their receivers are a joke, whoever is their QB next season needs someone to throw the ball to. Blackmon will be very intriguing for them, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they take him.

Unless they go after Matt Flynn I can't see them drafting Blackmon and getting any use out of him. I'm not knocking Blackmon at all, just that he would be way underutilized in the Browns offense. Every team would just double or triple him all day and force their QB to throw elsewhere or run a lot. Neither of which will do much good.

We'll see what happens, but they need to get offensive weapons. Their defense is pretty good. Maybe they can get Hillis back which will help, and like you said perhaps Flynn. But regardless, they need help at WR and TE. Blackmon would be an instant upgrade and an important piece of the puzzle for them.

The Rams are still going to be able to feed a big need at #6. There's a good chance Blackmon is still available, as it's very possible the Browns could address the cornerback position and go with LSU's Morris Claiborne, they could go with Alabama's Trent Richardson if they lose Peyton Hillis, or they could freak out if they don't get Matt Flynn and completely reach for Ryan Tannehill, who doesn't belong in the first round but since the draft has gotten so quarterback crazy the last couple years teams have been totally overreaching (see last year's draft with Ponder, Locker, and Gabbert). If Blackmon is gone they can fill their need at tackle and take Iowa's Reilly Reiff and hopefully keep Bradford healthy.
