I really can't blame the Bears for not giving Forte a big extension. In today's NFL it just doesn't make sense to give a running back $30 million guaranteed because it's so easy to find cheap running backs late in the draft and because running backs are so susceptible to injury. If I were the Bears I'd rather have Forte play out the season under the franchise tag and if he's still successful franchise him again versus giving him huge money.

http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/201...-rule-changes/
Quote:
NFL executives will meet in Palm Beach, Fla., beginning this Saturday for the annual owners meetings, and a major part of the summit is to discuss rule changes proposed by the nine-member competition committee. Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome is part of that committee.

There are seven changes proposed this year, as well as other bylaw alterations.

Perhaps the most noteworthy proposal came from the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are asking the competition committee to extend the postseason overtime rules to the regular season.

The two other more major changes include the use of instant replay.

One is that turnovers could fall under the replay official’s jurisdiction, meaning it could be automatically reviewed just like scoring plays. That could lead to more replays in general.

But another rule, proposed by Buffalo, would speed up the replay process. Under the new rule, the replay official in the booth would review replays and make decisions. That would eliminate the need for the referee to walk to the sideline and go under the hood. That is the process used in college football.

All teams’ owners will vote on the proposed changes next Wednesday, and they need a 75-percent majority to pass (24 of 32 owners in favor).

It's no sure thing the Redskins are able to draft RGIII. There's a lot of hype around RGIII now and multiple analysts are starting to say he should be the #1 pick. Right now it still looks like Luck will be the #1 pick, but there's a lot of hype that RGIII is gaining on him.

I cannot see Irsay drafting RGIII. He wants the next Peyton Manning, a pocket passer/poster boy of the organization. I personally think that RGIII will have the better career if supported, but I won't be seeing him with the Colts.

Yea cant see the colts taking rg3 either.

If they take luck & he bombs they wont really get blasted.

But if they take rg3 & he bombs & luck is great then they will totally get blasted.

First the Saints got what they derserved. These guys were TRYING to take other players out of the game by physically hurting them and there is no place for that crap in the NFL. To compare this to spy gate is a joke! And as for Tebow going to the Jets? Thats also a joke. All the Jets want is media attention and with a sub par player like Tebow they are gonna get it.

Every defensive player has this mind set. They are not taught to "take the guy down easily" or "keep him from getting injured". It's full throttle, all the time, hit hard, run fast, destroy.

This is football. Not soccer with their acting, or baseball with their boring 100+ games, or a basketball diva show. FOOTBALL! GRIDIRON!

That's right! This is football! We have no room for shenanigans! The sack, interception, 2-yard gain, partial tackle, and 7-yard reception on 3rd and 10 celebration dances are totally warranted!!

I will say while it IS a vicious hard-hitting game, the NFL does have its share of acting, kickers and receivers in particular seem to enjoy putting on a show for the refs.

Center Jeff Saturday has signed with the Packers. I wonder if they'll draft Wisconsin center Peter Konz if he's available because Saturday is not a long-term solution.

i was getting worried since we let Wells go.

i hope they still draft Konz b/c he'd be the better option in the long run.

Taking breaks every 10 seconds to regroup, set up and and rest.

You leave old man Saturday alone! Although now one does wonder if a lot of his success was due to Manning, that guy probably made about half the line calls himself over the years and it will be a new system as well, won't it?

I don’t know what the colts ran for an offense so I’m not sure how comparable it is to the Packers offense.

as far as if u're asking if the packers will have a new system now that philbin is gone....i'd think not since mccarthy was the play caller to begin with.
