It's about that time of year where I start getting my football withdrawals. It's tough. Thank God for the NFL Network.

You lucky sob. You have kids don't you? Do they do the bike ride with the players? Or is that something I don't quite understand? I'm super jelly btw.

It was surely an unfortunate injury, but at least CJ Spiller showed what he's capable of. I'm looking forward to those two in the backfield this year.

From what we were told by a dad of a kid last year…..you have to be there from the 1st day. Usually players will use the same kid every day for the whole training camp.

You can’t just walk in w/your kid and get a player.

We have to try and find a day me & my buddies can go….the 28th is the only day we all can go so I’m a little that it may not happen this year.

Adrian Peterson wasn't the only intoxicated running back to get arrested over the weekend. From the link:

Quote:
Eagles running back Dion Lewis and his older brother were arrested early Saturday after allegedly banging on the locked doors to a hotel lobby and eventually pulling a fire alarm.

Lewis is charged with a felony count of falsely reporting a fire. He also faces misdemeanor reckless endangerment charges.

Lewis was a guest at the Hampton Inn in Albany, where the doors to the lobby are locked at midnight and only a guest key can secure admission. Both men reportedly were intoxicated at the time.
Lewis is expected to be LeSean McCoy's top backup this season.

The story is fishy all around, but I don't exactly believe AP's side that cops jumped him for no reason.

It's clear that Adrian Peterson is planning on fighting his resisting arrest charge. The charge is only a misdemeanor that could easily be pleaded down to just a small fine and possibly community service, but Peterson has hired Rusty Harden, who just got Roger Clemens acquitted for perjury, as his lawyer. Harden will cost tens of thousands of dollars so Peterson is clearing looking to clear his name. This is only Peterson's first brush with the law and it's a minor offense so Peterson wouldn't be facing a suspension if he was found guilty. Harden has been doing a lot of media and says Peterson never touched the off-duty officer, says multiple witnesses say Peterson never touched the officer, and doesn't know why Peterson was arrested. I would be very surprised if the charges aren't dropped because Houston prosecutors are going to realize they'll likely lose the case if it goes to trial.

If you are going to pick a Lawyer to try to get your name vindicated, why would you pick Roger Clemens' lawyer?

Almost nobody changed their opinion after the Clemens verdict.

This is going to turn into something big most likely, if there is video proving he didn't touch the officer and they falsely arrested him this is going to get bad for Houston PD

Supplemental draft primer: Josh Gordon has NFL teams buzzing

Quote:
Eligible players

Quaylon Ewing-Burton, CB, Boise State
Josh Gordon, WR, Utah/Baylor
Adam Harris, RB, Syracuse
Adrian Haughton, OT, Iowa State
Larry Lumpkin, LB, Carson-Newman
Montez Robinson, DE, Georgia
Houston Tuminello, WR, McMurray/Louisiana Tech
Ed Wesley, RB, TCU
Quote:
Five potential fits for Gordon

Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones is never scared to take a risk. With Miles Austin and Dez Bryant already in place, the Cowboys could afford to take their time developing Gordon.

Seattle Seahawks
Pete Carroll loves size and speed. He also proved with the selection of 2012 first-rounder Bruce Irvin that he's willing to forgive a few off-field issues.

Cleveland Browns
Tom Heckert wants playmakers. Drafting former Alabama running back Trent Richardson was a great first step, but the Browns desperately need another outside weapon to pair with Greg Little.

Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins need to upgrade their talent at the receiver position. Even if Chad Ochocinco pans out, there is still plenty of room for a player with Gordon's ability.

St. Louis Rams
The Rams have attempted to address their need at the receiver position in each of the past two drafts, but the jury is still out on all of those players. Adding another young talent like Gordon doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

Prediction

The Browns will select Gordon in the third round of the supplemental draft.

Cris Carter is perhaps the most decorated player to come out of the supplemental draft.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk (guest-hosting the Dan Patrick Show) said he thinks there's a good chance Gordon will go in the second round by a team with a lower pick that wants Gordon and knows they won't be able to get him with their third round pick.

Also, the Supplemental Draft order isn't set yet because they use a lottery to set the order. A brief explanation of the lottery:

Quote:
Like the NBA and NHL, the NFL supplemental draft lottery is weighted so that worse teams get a better chance of having the highest picks. The first drawing will feature the 10 teams that won six or fewer games last season: Colts, Rams, Vikings, Browns, Buccaneers, Redskins, Jaguars, Dolphins, Panthers and Bills. The Colts will get their names put in the drawing 32 times, the Rams 31 times, and so on. Those 10 teams are guaranteed to have Top 10 picks, but the lottery will determine the exact order.

After that, a second drawing takes place with the 10 teams that won seven or more games last season but didn’t make the playoffs: Chiefs, Seahawks, Cardinals, Cowboys, Eagles, Jets, Raiders, Chargers, Bears, Titans. The Chiefs will get their names in the drawing 22 times, the Seahawks 21 times, and so on. Those 10 teams get picks 11-20.

Finally, the third drawing is for the 12 playoff teams, with the Super Bowl champion Giants getting their names in the drawing just once. The 12 playoff teams get draft lottery picks 21-32.
