An update

Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson was released just after 1 p.m. today from the Broward County Detention Center after posting bond of $2,500. He got out of jail around the same time his teammates took the field for practice.

The Dolphins released a statement saying they are reviewing details of the incident and will refrain from comment.

According to a Davie Police report, Johnson and Lozada, married since July 4, returned to their home in Davie around 7:10 p.m. from a shopping trip. As they were unloading groceries, she located a receipt in the trunk from Walgreens that included a charge for a box of condoms.

The two sat and argued in Johnson’s car in the driveway, and according to the report, he grabbed Lozada’s arm and head-butted her. According to the report, Lozada tried to calm Johnson down, who was screaming, “I don’t give a (expletive) about my career.”

Lozada then ran to a neighbor’s house. Johnson drove around the neighborhood looking for her, the report says, and Lozada and her neighbors called police.

Johnson later confirmed to police that they were arguing over a receipt, but said Lozada was the one who head-butted him. Johnson did not have any visible marks or bruises.

Philbin said that he will be meeting with Chad Johnson "sooner rather than later."

I'm assuming that Chad doesn't use condoms with his wife as she is likely on birth control, so there's a good chance he wasn't using the condoms with her.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I wonder what Miami will do with him? He's already in Philbin's doghouse. This won't help matters.

I'm pretty sure as I type this CJ is scrambling for Carson Palmers phone number and begging for a chance to play with him just one more time. He had a good thing going in Miami probably being the best WR there but he threw it all away. Also it's ironic on Hard Knocks, on the players day off he promised he'll get arrested. Hmmm no. Catching a few passes in practice is one thing, being consistent in game situation is another. Davone Bess has always been our best receiver. Johnson was actually behind Legedu Naanee, and would have been 4th on the depth chart had Hartline not been injured.

Ah yes Devone Bess...forgot about him. Good pick up out of Hawaii. Either way Chad Johnson could've done some things in Miami but really thats not saying much. Maybe a 40-50 catch season if that...it's not like he's was going to be any worse than last season. uh on 2nd thought...

Starks was never the starter anyway, he was always the #2 running back (Unless he was the starter and I didn't know) but he is a lot better then Ryan Grant though, I'm glad to see him go, always fumbling at critical times with his fumbling nonsense.

Why are you worried about Benson? He's was always good in Cincinnati.

I never understood why Cedric Benson had so much trouble finding a team. He's rushed for over 1,000 yards each of the last 3 seasons and seems like a good complimentary back at this stage in his career. He was rumored to be an option in Oakland and I always thought that made sense considering how injury prone Darren McFadden has been and how unproven backups Mike Goodson and Taiwan Jones are. It's possible that Benson wanted too much money initially but he eventually must have realized he wasn't getting a big money deal because his Packers contract is rumored to be for the veteran's minimum with no guaranteed money.
