NFL, union clash on trade deadline, IR

Quote:
The league voted in May to push the in-season trade deadline from Week 6 to Week 8 in hopes of giving teams more flexibility to make personnel moves. Clubs also would have been allowed to bring back one player who entered the regular season on injured reserve at some point during the year.

However, both changes required approval of the NFLPA according to rules of the collective bargaining agreement. That didn’t happen, according to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello.

“There was no agreement on it with the union,” Aiello told FOXSports.com in an email. “The old rules apply.”

The problem is that there is so much hatred right now between the NFL and NFLPA that the NFLPA would never approve something the NFL wants, even if it's favorable for players, unless they got something back in return.

Don't get your hopes up theirs a reason why we let that bag of potatoes go. He's a great fit for the Packers since he is consitently average, thats all they need.

I'm looking forward to seeing how our defense defends ya'lls passing game. This is a great test for us and im glad we get to face the packers and not the Cheifs persay

he actually looked really good while he was in there!!

to be honest, if we could get even 700-800 yards out of him throughout the season, that just gives teams something else to worry about besides rodgers and our recv'rs!!

i'm really excited to see benson in there during the season!! i've always wanted to see what a RB could do in our offense, every RB we've ever had has been mediocre @ best.

Jags got beat badly last night. Our starters played through the 3rd qtr. Gabbert wasn't terrible, but didn't play as well last night compared to the Giants/Saints. Our FA pickup WR Laurent Robinson dropped a handful of passes as well. Our 1st Rd pick Blackmon continues to play very well which is a good sign. Flacco and company went up and down the field on our defense which I wasn't happy about.

Unfortunately, this is more representative of how the year is going to go. First 2 games are like scrimage. Now it's getting real. Without Mojo, we are in trouble. Defense isn't helping either.

The Cardinals are not going to be very good this year. Their quarterback situation is bad, but the biggest problem is their offensive line. The line was bad enough to start, but losing Levi Brown took what already may have been the worst offensive line in the NFL and made it even worse. I don't understand how Cardinals management hasn't upgraded the line. When Kurt Warner signed his final 2-year deal with the Cardinals in 2009 he told the team that if they didn't do something to fix their offensive line then he would probably only play 1 year of the deal, and when they did nothing to make their line better he retired because he was taking too many hits. The Cardinals haven't used a pick in the first 2 rounds on an offensive lineman since they drafted Levi Brown in 2007, and while it may be more exciting to use a first round pick on a receiver (Michael Floyd in 2012) or running back (Ryan Williams in the early second round in 2011, Beanie Wells in 2009) it doesn't fix the Cardinals biggest problem. Have good receivers is meaningless when the quarterback doesn't have enough time to pass the ball.

Unfortunately why kurt didn't have a better career. Loved to watch him back in '99 with 'The greatest show on turf'.

was so nice to see the Packers w/a RB last night that would make a decision and hit a hole instead of dancing around in the backfield stutter-stepping!!

hopefully he can be productive in the regular season!!

Sigh he did look pretty good last night i can't lie.

Im not too upset with last ngiht, our defense was decent and that why rodgers was out of the pcket alot that drive. I feel if that was aregualr season game we wouldnt allow that.

I'm really worried about our CB depth though as clements isnt getting any younger. Hopefully kirkpatrick can come in soon.

Our running game looked abyssmal as well

Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS -- Colts owner Jim Irsay says his team is seriously contemplating a trade -- a deal that could possibly include a high draft pick.

On Thursday, Irsay wrote on Twitter that "serious" trade winds are blowing, though he also noted that often times these deals fall through.

Later, he tweeted that new Colts general manager Ryan Grigson isn't afraid to roll the dice and that the owner was willing to open his checkbook.

Those two posts followed an earlier one that read simply: "TRADE WINDS BLOWING."

Irsay has not provided any indication of who the Colts might be trying to get, though their two biggest areas of need are cornerback and offensive line.

Grigson and coach Chuck Pagano have repeatedly said they will do anything they can to improve the team.

I don't take anything Irsay says on Twitter seriously. He loves attention and he's the type of person that would make up the possibility of a trade just to get people to pay attention to him. It's certainly possible that a trade may happen but no other owner would start tweeting about it before it's final.

Mike Wallace could be a possibility as well. Bruce Arians is the offensive coordinator of Indy and he was Pittsburgh's OC for Wallace's whole career so they are familiar with one another. Indy could definitely use some help at receiver. Reggie Wayne turns 34 in November and Austin Collie is going to have to retire at some point due to concussions and they don't have anyone proven behind them. Irsay is going to want to do whatever is possible to help Luck succeed and getting him a proven receiver would certainly help.
