Seattle was lucky to get anything for Jackson. In essence he had a no-trade clause because if Seattle had tried to send him somewhere he didn't want to go he could have refused to renegotiate his contract and no team would have traded for him with his $4 million salary he was due and eventually Seattle would have had to cut him.

Since Lions RB Best is out for awhile, why don't they call the Jags and see what it would take to get MJD?

I don't see how the Lions could afford MJD. He isn't going to report without a new contract and the Lions are near the cap this year and well over the anticipated cap in future years. They also have a lot of defensive players that are due to become free agents next year and really need to sign Stafford and Suh to new contracts. In addition, I can't see the Jags trading MJD unless they got a massive offer. Their new owner doesn't want a precedent that he'll cave when a star holds out.

It may not be to the Lions, but I can see MJD traded before the deadline though, do you?

I really can't see MJD being traded because I don't know what team would be willing to give up a high pick to the Jaguars and a new contract for MJD. MJD is 27 and I don't see a team willing to give him a contract with something like $15 million guaranteed considering how small he is and how much mileage he has on his legs.
