I like our signings at DE, Kenyon Coleman never should've left. We were never going to get Nnamdi Asomugha and I think the fact that we didn't overpay a 30 year old player like the Luries did proves Jason Garrett has some clout.

Big props for the Eagles for keeping Asomugha away from the Jets, but how the hell are they going to pay Jackson now? He seems pretty adamant about not playing until he gets a big contract.

Agree. The eagles may have a very stout secondary now, but what are they going to do when Vick goes down? The guys way too brittle for 16 games and Kolb is gone. They may be able to hold teams to 5 or 6 yards per carry but they wont be putting points on the board with Mcnameless at qb who's never had an nfl start.

That's exactly why the Eagles shouldn't have traded Kolb. Vick can't stay healthy for 16 games.

i cannot believe all the "experts" on ESPN are saying the Eagles are the team to beat in the NFC i absolutely HATE the Packers, but come on, they're the champs, and while yes, they always get off to a terrible start (4-4 or so and then kick it into gear) they haven't really lost anyone of impact. and besides, all their injuries last year proved they could win with a solid selection of "who's this now?" starters.

and i feel bad for Rodgers-Cromartie playing opposite of Nhamdi. does anyone remember when he was on Oakland and they picked up Dante Hall when he was good? everyone said, "wow. studs on both sides" and then Hall got KILLED because they all threw his way and not at Nhamdi! same thing will happen for Cromartie, and he's still very young, i can see him getting the floor wiped with him. i mean, it was so bad for Hall he got cut or traded

...however, do the Eagles still have Asante Samuel? the THREE of them could be great and dangerous if Samuel can get his head on straight (again)

especially when Vince "head case" Young is wandering around the city thinking of killing himself. the coaches won't even be able to find him if Vick goes out with an injury! lol

and everyone seemed to figure out Vick towards the end of last year (Packers, Vikings and i think Bears...) so... even if he does go down, your back up is a SUCKIER, WORSE VERSION of the exact same player? nice move Reid!

Nnamdi signing w/Eagles is bad for the Cowboys cause of 1. Cowboys almost had him and 2. now he'll be on a division rival.

When it comes to QBs, Reid isn't that smart.

I'm going to have to disagree right there. He drafted McNabb and built a team with him that was a perennial playoff contender. Then he got Kolb as a backup and ending up trading him for a starting corner and a 4th round pick (that will most likely be high). Then he signed Vick who most teams wouldn't dare touch and now he's one of the top 5 QB's in football again.

i agree with you SleeperAgent, Reid generally has a solid history with QB's, but i still find the Young signing suspect. yeah, it's easier to get him accustomed to the offense so if Vick goes out the offense can try and run relatively the same as before, but i don't like that whole deal. not that there are a lot of great back up options, but still.

The fact of the matter is that the offense in Philly has been "plug and play" for years now. Mcnabb was replaced by Kolb, then Vick, the Kolb, then Vick took over. If Vick falls it should be really easy to plug in VY and keep the offense in a good rhythm. He has talent, they just need to keep him under control and working hard.

that's the tricky part. Reid hasn't had a head case before.

Vick doesn't count because he knew he was on his last life in the NFL and didn't have a choice. and i believe Vick really does love football. Young doesn't. he's just... different lol

YES! Kindle will be in full practice this week with the Ravens! Hopefully he can be the pass rush we need opposite Suggs.

We never actually almost had him, look at how much money the Iggles paid him, we don't have that kind of money right now. We also have other needs so I think the "interest" we had in the guy was probably drummed up by his agent quite a bit.

When I made that comment I was referring to it being down to the 2 teams before the Eagles got him.

Well I still agree with those who say the Cowboys' pursuit of the guy was drummed up to drive the price up on the Jets. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Asante Samuel and Nnamdi Asomugha, looks good on paper, we'll have to wait and see how it unfolds over the course of the season though.

Samuel has like a $7 million base salary this year though so unless he's willing to renegotiate his deal not likely. Also he's not good in a lot of defensive schemes/coverages so that's another stumbling block.

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Eagles are now willing to entertain trade offers for Asante Samuel.

PFT has a good article clearing up the confusion on the per team cap $$ spending cause alot of people are saying how teams have to spend $$ to hit almost up to the $124m cap & thats not true.

That spending floor doesnt take effect until 2013.

Teams for 2011 & 2012 can spend as little as they still want:
