I was able to confirm that the DECA processor is strictly for webOS features and does not effect any other function.
LG showed me a final mass production 55EG9600 and as you could easily guess it looks awesome. The 2015 4K OLED's come preloaded with stunning video content exploiting the extreme blacks and ultra high contrast that only OLED can deliver. Motion was very fluid and smooth and colors were accurate and beautifully saturated. The extra resolution was a nice advantage when viewing very close. It looks like a high dynamic range photograph with a continuous tonal range and no viewable pixel grid even at less than one foot from the screen. Regardless of what anyone says early April is an optimistic launch with limited supply, but LG promises better availability over the summer. I'm in for a decent allotment from the very first allocations. I have many ore technical specs coming as the execs I was with today could not answer all of my questions, but they were referred to engineering for answers. So stand by for more info. 2015 is the year of OLED and everyone is in for a real treat! -Robert |

Any initial prices on these? As great as it sounds I'm assuming it won't be affordable for a lot of people for a while?

Mike, UPP on LG's 65EG9600 is $8,999, so the price has dropped by $1k on LG's 2015 4K OLED from the 65EC9700.
I just read a post on AVS Forum restating my post on BD.com just above these three posts. What is being read into my post of supply increasing this summer is that prices will drop. My professional opinion is that they will not drop until LG decides to do so and I do not expect it to be this summer. This summer's better supply will not be significant. Supply will not be abundant for several years. At this time we have two lines in South Korea producing large 4K OLED panels so a high volume of mass production will take more production lines and as more enthusiasts and high-end consumers purchase 55", 65" and larger OLED displays the supply will not be able to keep up with the expected increased demand. My take on the pricing is that it will be stable until supply can significantly outpace demand and that's most likely two to three years away. So my best educated guess is that we'll see gradual price reductions and some infrequent LG instant rebate sales for at least the balance of 2015. One more tidbit of information is that LG is on a mission to shut down transshipping to unauthorized dealers. I can tell you they are aggressively buying OLED TVs from unauthorized retailers to track the s/n and shut down the authorized dealers who resell to unauthorized sellers. -Robert |

Can't ^^ agree more.
We've been enjoying our 77EG9700 for about three weeks and this Thursday, march 5th Kevin Miller, David Mackenzie and Mark Henninger are calibrating and evaluating our 77" 4K OLED store demo. I'll report back. -Robert |

Isn't it just a matter of factory utilization plus yields that is keeping LG from pricing more competitively? It wasn't long ago that LG themselves forecast a sell-through of 600,000 OLEDs (both through CEM partners and end users of LG products) for 2015. From the impression you have, Robert, it sounds like we'll be lucky if they sell through 1/6th of that. I sincerely hope that 77" settles down at no more than $10k before another 3 years...

Scandinavian countries for around U.S. $30,000+ now. Per that video, they plan to offer it in the U.S. in 2015. I wonder what the price will be? I also read that the OLED's top out at 800 nits. That should be more than adequate for HDR given the absolute black level attained by OLED. Any thoughts on that? |

I'm not sure how valid the Danish pricing on the 2015 LG OLEDs are but interesting :

Competition from Samsung is probably 2 years away. If LG doesn't get too greedy with their pricing, they could achieve a high level of market penetration by then. Their lock on WRGB will help.
