I definitely am worried that Star Wars will lose some of its draw for me if there is one coming out every year. I've been a life long fan, and will continue to watch as long as they're good (I've been mostly pleased with the new releases), but there will be no anticipation for me for a new one.

Growing up I was desperate for standalone films about Boba Fett or Lando or whoever, but now they're here the buzz and excitement of each new film has diminished a bit. I remember the anticipation of waiting 3 years for each new film and it felt special. The excitement was in the waiting, not necessarily seeing the film, so having films on an annual basis means to anticipation is lost. And IMO it's not really a like for like comparison with Marvel, because they've built their series around multiple films on an annual basis and it works for them. In the case of Star Wars it feels like something that they're forcing onto it, rather than developing it naturally, the same problem the DC films have. Things may change in the future, but for now it feels a bit forced and the spark of Star Wars has died out a little. |

Guess I'm just a complete fanboy, then. Saw TLJ in theaters five times, got tix for the opening night fan event of Solo in two weeks. Can't wait!

To be honest, I'm finding it very difficult to be optimistic about Star Wars right now. Rogue One was mostly pointless, The Last Jedi was trash, and Solo doesn't look too encouraging either. The Force Awakens was promising, but its future was wrecked by Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson's obsession with identity politics. It was recently revealed that Colin Trevorrow was fired from The Last Jedi, because the story he wanted to tell kept Luke at the center instead of dwelling on Rey, Poe, and Finn - oh, the horror!

Star wars is a bit like cake these days... gone are the days where it was a young child who only got cake for it's birthday and it was a real treat.. now it's an adult it can buy cake whenever and the cake whilst still good doesn't have the magic it once did.

Completely agree. Huge fan here too. But it used to be special when a film came out. Not it's just yearly. I still go see them but the extra buzz and excitement has left.

I’m loving everything they are doing. People used to talk about superhero fatigue, but Infinity War silences all that chatter. I could NEVER have Star Wars fatigue. I’ve been wanting a live action Star Wars series since I was a kid watching Battlestar Galactica.

I'd much rather go back to the days of a superman or Batman movie every few years. The entertainment industry just likes to beat everything into the ground now. |

Trevorrow was never attached to The Last Jedi in the first place.
