Arrow Racing to be an OP of a thread, with little-to-NO information known?

Can there be stricter enforcement on people who create threads in the North America BD section, for titles that have yet to see one shred of confirmation of even existing at that point?

If there is a race/prize to being the OP in the most number of threads on there, then disregard this as I apologize for not knowing about that in advance of asking this -- but otherwise, there seems no logical reason to race (with yourself or 1 other apparently, since there's only 1-2 real culprits of doing this repeatedly) to try and start a thread with no known information.
That seems to be what the "wishlist" section is for, is it not??
So these entries of "this should hopefully be released sometime soon" can stop clogging up the forum for those of us who like actual information to be posted about and be available at the time of posting?

This has been an ongoing problem in that section for a while now, I'm aware. But now it's being noticed that those who do that, are now going into other subsections of the forum and creating threads for things that either:
-do not exist, period.
-have barely even been announced
-have NO information/details to them other than "coming soon"
-pre-orders for titles that have no pre-order links even available on any major retailer's site, and are not even released in theaters yet

It wouldn't be a problem if those who feel the desperate need to be an OP on everything, actually UPDATED the thread once information is known 6-8 months later. But just to create a thread and then never return to it, & have to have a Mod input the relevant information many months later seems ridiculous.

After posting this, I got 2 PM's from different members who not only knew exactly what member was being referred to here
[Show spoiler]
, but noted that I should probably make it more clear on what I was talking about in the bolded part here.

They brought up other sections of the forum which this happens that I wasn't even aware of as I do not frequent them myself, but clearly its then a larger problem.
But to make it clearer, I was referencing that same member also now going into the STEELBOOKS section and creating threads with the same MO - no known information, pure speculation; or making a thread and listing everything as "coming soon" and never updating it many months later after that when actual information is known.

I agree. People who start threads should update their OPs, not just abandon them.

This. I stick to the Steelbook section and hardly any of them get updated by the OP.

EXACTLY.

Poor Neoz, has to always do others' work by inputting relevant info into the OP.
Thankfully he's doing 99% of the OP updating , without his hard work otherwise, that entire section would just be "TBA" on everything listed indefinitely if O.R.'s posts continued to remain as he sets them

We had issues with members creating threads just to be first and not having any verifiable evidence...we made it clear that we are not going to allow it. If post #1 is not getting updated and a member wants to become the OP to keep the thread current, just send us a pm and we will change the OP .

I can't express how happy I am to see this!
I've been saying this for awhile now, there's no need to rush to be first. This isn't high school. I would rather the info came a day late but was thorough and accurate, to include a verified source.
Then maintaining an OP. I know it can be some work, but members should take that into consideration when they start a thread! It's a shame that this is one more thing the Moderation team has to look after, but hopefully folks will learn to start thread, WITH good verifiable info AND maintain that thread through release day(at least). Then in the rare instances to update if there are technicaly difficulties with that release and how to get the problem resolved.
This is a great move by the site, and should weed out those folks that are just in it for "thread glory".

You mean being an OP doesn't make you one of the cool kids .

I always laugh when I see threads for movies that have no info what so ever or just a pre-order link and nothing more. We all know who those members are.

I swear!! I have told rickah88 about this dozens of times but he just won't listen... Then he doesn't credit his sources either. It's so annoying.

Thank you Blu Titan!

While I'm sure this is a blowing heartbreak of news for one or two people to hear (if they even venture this "far" out of that section of the forum), that's great news to hear!

Kudos to getting that thread the other day sorted out as well what started this whole little semi-rant in the first place

Part of the problem is that one of the individuals in question will threadcrap or report threads when legit threads are created.

Damn! I hate it when I discover a hottie and then find out she is only 17

I blame you neoz. Sorry, back to what you guys were talking about. *runs away*

BTW, really grateful for the OP switch thing.

THIS ^^^^^^^^^^

Most of the time his hissy fits don't end up in him getting his pathetic way; but every once in a blue moon he actually gets what should be the REAL thread merged into his crappy useless one
But THAT becomes the only time when he will ever check back into a thread; when it's to complain that a less-useful one is already in existence (and has been for years )

This thread is hugely ironic as the OP rushed to create a thread numerous times before based on some phantom Disney newsletters. LOL.

It's like social media, everyone wants to be first to post breaking news.

A newsletter from Disney is pretty official I'd say. A random date someone makes up or takes from some random site is not.

It's only valid though when it's actually worthwhile and useful.

The equivalence of posting on social media to what Oscar Rothman does in his tens of daily threads created is this:

"There'll be some breaking news ... in the next year. Stay tuned. Look elsewhere for the actual substance of that news"

Phantom Disney newsletters? Perhaps if you take a look around the forum more than just needing to create fictional thread to boost your self-esteem, you'd be plenty aware that I get Disney news well in advance of most people and post about for others for 2+ years....and it's always confirmed/true/actually going to happen

But hahaha yeah, those are definitely not more official than your regular statement: "someone at digitalbits posted about this coming soon" OH OK thanks for that "confirmation"

Because I'm sure Disney just puts out random advertisements for titles that are coming soon, according to your minuscule logic.

Funny thing though -- when these "phantom Disney newsletters" come out, isn't it odd that when I post about something coming....it actually is true? (and we're not talking in the 2+ year time span from some of your "disney exclusives" )
